Random Episode 8 – 2010 Resolutions with Kevin Rose and Tim Ferriss

This new, long overdue Random episode covers our personal resolutions–personal, business, physical, and otherwise–as well as favorite recent gifts (both given and received).

The video is recorded on two cameras, including Glenn’s new experimental HD delight. Topics include:

  • Chocolate
  • Powerlifting
  • Filtering false friends
  • Funny hats
  • The art of the decline

    … and naked ladies.

Best to give the video 10-20 minutes to buffer before watching. It’s a big ‘un.

Please let us know in the comments what you’d like our next show topic to be! If you missed previous episodes, all of them can be found here.

Here are the links to resources mentioned in the video, provided courtesy of reader DynastyDC. Thanks, D! …

Hi Tim,

nice episode, fresh ideas, im a new fan to the blog and 4HWW (trying not to rip thru it!)

I liked especially the pause to appreciate the journey and the discoveries made along the way, not just eyeing up the next conquest;)

The healing foods cookbook and datsusara hemp bag also caught my eye as I’m a hemp food manufacturer and avid user and working on my raw vegan skills.

looking forward to more random!

hmm…..Vitamin A/D update today on the Mercola site.

excerpt:

” British Medical Journal has published a remarkable paper confirming that low vitamin D levels obtained in the past are a risk factor for developing colon cancer in the future.

But the study contained an even more significant finding — as Dr. Cannell’s site has reported before, vitamin A, even in relatively low amounts, can thwart vitamin D’s association with reduced rates of colon cancer.”

Gentlemen,

Great greatness. Of course.

Please tell me that photography piece of the woman spilling out of the box was something some gorgeous creature sent you after reading the 4hww. Because she is now living in a different paradigm? please.

Thanks for all the insight…we are breaking all the rules at the trail head of our new company.

Rock and roll.

Gratefully yours,

Kate Power

What a fun video. I just found your blog today and am so glad that I did. You have such a great perspective on things. I write as well, but for my own sake and have been trying to be more dedicated to it. I have created a goal of writing three times a week for an hour. And I got to to tell you it really does work to force yourself to sit down and do it. Of course there is a lot of garbage that gets jotted down but in between that I have found some pretty good things that I can expand on. I love going back and reading and thinking everything I wrote was awful and the finding out…not so much.

I look forward to seeing more of you.

I am excited about your new book “Becoming Superhuman”! I can’t wait for the release.

My new years resolution is to lose my excess midriff skin from giving birth 13 months ago (it was a big baby). I’d love to be a test subject to help you with your data and website. I strongly suggest you include at least a few women in your analysis!

Hey Tim,

I enjoyed your video, although I nearly went blind trying to squint enough to figure out who the photographer’s name was on that photo behind you. I would be extremely grateful if you could post the name.

Surprised no one asked this already. Who’s that hot chick in the background? I know it’s a famous picture but I don’t know who it is. I don’t think that I have the time to do an image search with 8 billion results. Help!

Thanks!

P.S. Good show too 🙂

I personally absolutely resolved not to make any new years resolutions again, ever! And that has been my new years resolution for many years. All the vitamin D afficionados need to take into consideration that you need sun on your entire naked body for fifteen to twenty minutes a day in order for your body to synthesize adequate vit D…..

Hey Tim,

Cool episode, as usual. My brother and I are trying to start a muse based on a daily sweetener made of stevia, Vitamin D, and other vitamins. We have a test website, (see website field). We’re having trouble getting people to click through to purchase. If you or any readers have any comments or suggestions we’d love to hear them!

Thanks,

Jamie

Jamie:

I went to your site. Try using testimonials. Testimonials are instant trust, especially if you can highly influental people within your target market or demographic to give them.

Are you advertizing on adwords? People searching for “vitamin D” are likely wanting to buy. Of course, test to find the best keyword. I’ve found that keywords that you think right away would be great for conversions aren’t as good as ones that took you months to think of.

Just watching this episode now. Have you hit that 500lb deadlift yet Tim? If not, I think its definitely possible with some specific training. I pulled 400 at a BW of 185 with some simple periodization and a peaking cycle. I like Mark Rippetoe’s Starting Strength Program for basic linear progression, and Jim Wendler’s 5-3-1 as well. The latter has less volume and I feel more sustainable for someone that has already passed that novice phase of adpation, or does other activities. Lifting heavy three times a week made it tough to do alot of BJJ.

I love the episode. It gives me a feeling that you are a real normal dude, not some sort of a “super human” your’re marketing!

Where can I get such evernote t-shirt? I started using Evernote because of You, and after a while I became a great fan of this product.

Tim, I need to know the maximum result, least amount of effort needed to learn a new trade and if this can be applied to going back to finish my degree while working 60 hours a week and family, other obligations etc. The trade and degree are related and I need to get my degree finished as a part of my job contract but not given any accommodations from my employer to do so. I am excited about going back to school and my current job but need to get the most out of it with a limited amount of time. Can you help?
