Dr. Andrew Huberman Quotes from the Interview
“But what is failure? If somebody really put a gun to your head and said, ‘Curl that bar one more time or I’m going to kill your family,’ you’d curl the bar.”
— Dr. Andrew Huberman
“Not only am I not going to run for office, I’m running from office.”
— Dr. Andrew Huberman
“If the anterior mid-cingulate cortex or the posterior insula gets 10% thicker, great. But if you’re not making better decisions, frankly, who gives a shit?”
— Dr. Andrew Huberman
“There does seem to be something almost spiritual about whether or not we’re funneling energy into things that really reflect us at our best … versus competition. Competition, it turns out, is what destroys people.”
— Dr. Andrew Huberman
“It’s as if I was dying of thirst and I’m trying to reach for this and I can’t get it. That’s what grief really is.”
— Dr. Andrew Huberman
Want to hear another episode with someone who built a legendary physique on brutally minimalist training? Listen to my conversation with six-time Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates, in which we discussed high-intensity training and going to failure, his relationship to pain, how he warms up, specific workouts, common mistakes and misconceptions, self-talk, his favorite books, and much more.
This episode is brought to you by Momentous Creatine! I’ve used Momentous Creatine for a long time, as it’s been one of the highest-quality creatine options available. Now, Momentous has taken that quality even further with Signature Spec Creatine, their most advanced version yet. Signature Spec is manufactured in a pharmaceutical facility using reverse-osmosis water purification. It’s verified through a six-stage testing process with four independent agencies—delivering 10x fewer impurities, 2–5x tighter heavy-metal limits, and added PFAS and microplastics screening.
The ultrafine powder also mixes cleanly, with no grit. Creatine supports strength, power, lean muscle, and recovery, with growing research on enhanced memory and cognitive performance. Head to LiveMomentous.com/Tim and use code TIM for 14% off your first one-time order or a total of 35% off your first subscription order.
This episode is brought to you by Eight Sleep. Temperature is one of the main causes of poor sleep, and heat is my personal nemesis. But a few years ago, I started using the Pod Cover, and it has transformed my sleep. Eight Sleep has launched their newest generation of the Pod: Pod 5 Ultra. It cools, it heats, and now it elevates, automatically. With the best temperature performance to date, Pod 5 Ultra ensures you and your partner stay cool in the heat and cozy warm in the cold. And now, listeners of The Tim Ferriss Show can get $350 off of the Pod 5 Ultra for a limited time! Click here to claim this deal and unlock your full potential through optimal sleep.
This episode is brought to you buy ProLon! One name that has come up on this podcast more than once is Dr. Valter Longo, a USC professor with decades of peer-reviewed research on fasting, nutrition, and aging. I regularly fast and have done a lot of experiments with fasting over more than a decade, and it has been one of the most incredible unlocks that I have found for both near- and long-term physical and mental health.
But fasting can be really hard, and that is why Dr. Longo, best known for the Fast Mimicking Diet (FMD), developed ProLon. For 5 days, you’re able to get the benefits of fasting—including autophagy, your body’s cellular, self cleanup process—all while eating real, structured, plant-based meals. In scientific studies, 5-day cycles of the Fast Mimicking Diet improved markers tied to metabolic health and biological aging and helped people drop fat while holding onto lean muscle. And ProLon makes it easy: it comes in one box, everything is clearly laid out, and there’s no guesswork. For a limited time, Prolon is offering my listeners 15% off site wide, plus a $40 bonus gift when you subscribe to their 5-day program. Just visit ProLonLife.com/Tim.
This episode is brought to you by Helix Sleep! Helix was selected as the best overall mattress of 2025 by Forbes and Wired magazines and best in category by Good Housekeeping, GQ, and many others. With Helix, there’s a specific mattress to meet each and every body’s unique comfort needs. Just take their quiz—only two minutes to complete—that matches your body type and sleep preferences to the perfect mattress for you. They have a 10-year warranty, and you get to try it out for a hundred nights, risk-free. They’ll even pick it up from you if you don’t love it. And now, Helix is offering listeners 20% off all mattress orders for a limited time at HelixSleep.com/Tim.

Comment Rules: Remember what Fonzie was like? Cool. That's how we're gonna be — cool. Critical is fine, but if you're rude, we'll delete your stuff. Please do not put your URL in the comment text and please use your PERSONAL name or initials and not your business name, as the latter comes off like spam. Have fun and thanks for adding to the conversation! (Thanks to Brian Oberkirch for the inspiration.)
Just listened to your conversation with Tim Ferriss; EXCELLENT! Huberman mentioned an eye mask near the end of the conversation. Is it for sale? If so, where can I get one?
