Loic Le Meur and Tim Ferriss Discuss E-mail, Entrepreneurship, and Practical Philosophies

Loic Le Meur is one of my favorite people in Silicon Valley.

He is a successful serial entrepreneur — having sold companies to France Telecom and Six Apart — as well as a French presidential adviser, and an organizer of the world-famous LeWeb conference held in Paris. I will be speaking there December 9-10 of this year.

I recently stopped by the Seesmic offices, where Loic is pursuing his latest project, and we had a fun conversation on everything from practical philosophies and e-mail management, to product development and how to grow large communities at low cost. Please let me know what other topics you’d like to hear more on.

Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend!

Very cool, one thing, on the retirement issue, there’s a quote I heard on CBS Sunday Morning on Bea Arthur before she pasted, she said “People who hate their jobs retire, people who love their jobs don’t retire” I just thought that was a awesome quote, and so true. Take care.

Hey Tim, I saw this today on LifeHacker. It’s somewhat like rescue time with its focus on your actual everyday life.

It does track your time on websites, but that may be the smallest feature.

You input your daily/weekly habits or measurements such as what kind of food you eat, and how much of each type. How much you weight each week over a course of months or years even. How many times you play golf, or how much money you spend. How many times you get sick, and when, the list is endless.

I found this interesting and the first thing I thought of was how it relates to your site and should share it with the 4HWW community.

Strength training footwear, wireless healthcare and mircotesting on a budget for a brick and mortar business

I do crossfit. Albeit my low immunity (hence I’ve been absent mostly) but on the rare occasion that I do my squats, my trainer would tsktsk at the nike flat cross trainer shoes that I use. Contrasting that with the onitsuka tiger taichi shoes or the addidas martial arts ones (kinda allows you to feel what exactly you are walking on) seems to alleviate some hip pain. Mind you, the nike that I have has also been insoled with orthotics. So, unless you have some ultra pronated feet, flat shoes such as the five fingers, onitsuka tigers and addidas seem to work. (two cents)

@ Tim,

regarding diabetes tracking and reporting via mobile phone, its been sitting at the back of my mind for awhile, the hygiene in prickling for blood with the mobile phone provides little sanitising unless the devices are carried separate,by the consumer perhaps? Anyhow such a company that manages the reporting seems to be called http://www.telemedco.com, maybe you have already come across http://www.themobilehealthcrowd.com

Also, I was wondering, all’s good for mircotesting for online businesses. How can one cross transfer that skill to a brick and mortar business on a shoestring?

cheers mate.

Hey mate,

Just wanted to give you a quick shout out. I just finished reading 4HWW and found it intense and eye opening to say the least!

Really appreciate you sharing your ideas. Everyone loves to hear stories of people going from rags to riches (I also just watched Slumdog Millionaire the other week). But you’ve written a book to help average people(90% of the world) to do above average things! Something we all really needed.

Best of luck with whatever your up to, wherever you are mate.

Cheers,

Tan

I can’t watch any of these videos… Really excited to have a look… but can’t see any embedded videos or links for downloading….

I just got to the Kevin Rose video, and a choppy streaming.

If it helps, i am currently in China and connecting my VPN didn’t seem to help.

thanks for any help!

HI Tim and gang – I would love your take on how people capture all the ideas they have in conversations with other people. Let’s say I have 3 or 4 calls in a day, and incredible things happen in each call, we go places, we talk ideas, it’s exciting. But then afterwards, what then? I find typing out notes on what we discussed seems to kill the magic, and then the ideas are hidden on my computer. How do I keep them alive, and how do I handle so many inspirations, they are coming thick and fast at the moment….help!
