I can’t wait to read the book! It looks like another gem of yours. Can I ask if you could recommend a good book about public speaking? Making presentations and running meetings? That would be awesome! Thank you.

Did anyone mention any of Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s works? That’s a shame. He’d be great on either podcast.

I recall many of Tim’s early guests mentioned Taleb, but I can’t see their names in this list.

In 4HWW you advised on media fast which is effective and went further on saying if you are to read a book you select based on reviews and (“no wonna-bees are worth the time”). In a scenario in which there are say more than 10-20 best sellers in a given genre and the authors you trust for reviews suggested 3 of such best sellers (e.g Influence, invisible influence and pre-suasion). What metric will you use to select just one. Thank you.

As The Dao De Jing comes highly recommended here I would like to suggest a different translation than the one that is linked in this article. To this day I didn’t find any translation that does this text more justice than the Philosophical translation of Roger T. Ames and David L. Hall (Dao De Jing – “Making this life significant”). This translation has an extremely thoughtful historical and philosophical introductions to the texts as well as a translation and commentary of each chapter. To approach this text without the understanding of the context in which it was written and the underlying philosophical ideas and approaches that are represented is like staring at a hieroglyph, sure you might find it beautiful but you will never get to fully enjoy and understand it’s true meaning.

The closest experience I can relate to reading Tools of Titans is Pregnancy. Initially I was uncomfortable feeling not just the mental but most noticeable the physical and spiritual stretch. Halfway through it I couldn’t get enough, as if a part of me had been craving for that experience tainted with a faint flavour of “how can an audio book be so expansive?”. The post-partum arrived once I finished the book, leaving me that so familiar feeling of THE VOID, something that has been occupying your physical, mental and spiritual space, foreign to you and yet part of you by that point. And thats when it hit, the most shape shitfting, mind altering, soul expansive tool in that book is your intention. You truly deeply believe and embody the last frase of the book “You are not alone, and you are greater than you think you are”. And with that frequency you ask the questions revealing how even Titans feel alone and small at some point and the tools they used to conquer themselves. Infinite gratitude for showing us how to be more ourselves and birth new versions of our identities.
