The Land Rush: 48 Hours to Claim $4,000,000 in Prizes

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROMOTION IS OVER. THANKS!

Have you ever gone on safari in Africa?

Been trained by world champions?

Crossed the Atlantic on a 119-foot schooner?

Taken a private tour of an Indian archipelago, complete with tigers, crocodiles, and… Miss India?

Now you can. Or… if you simply want thousands of dollars of cutting-edge gadgets, you can have those, too.

Welcome to “The Land Rush,” intended to be the largest book promotion in history…

The goal of this post is to offer the prizes of a lifetime, and to help The 4-Hour Body beat The Guinness Book of World Records on The New York Times bestseller list. Every package is worth at least twice the cost of the books, often up to 10x. More than $4,000,000 in prizes are up for grabs.

Every year, Guinness owns the NY Times list the week of 12/14. This year, I want that to change.

This is THE promotion for the book, and it will not be repeated. Pub day will not offer anything better. My World Series starts now.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

– For the NY Times, the book bonuses can only apply to HARDCOVER copies shipped to US addresses. Sorry!

– Copies of the new book will all ship starting 12/14. All bonuses will be delivered the week of 12/14 (digital) or the week of 12/21 (non-book physical goods).

– For the Barnes and Noble signed copies, it says “Signed Edition” on the “Overview” tab of the page.

– If you don’t need all of the books you buy, I am happy to donate the remainder to a worthwhile organization (library, school, company, event, etc.) on your behalf.

This giveaway lasts exactly 48 hours and ends at midnight on Sunday. It’s strictly first come, first served, and “limited to 5 spots” means the sixth person doesn’t get it.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROMOTION AND THE CONTEST ARE OVER. THANKS!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Grab what you can!

Ready? Set? Go.

  1. Tim,

It blows me away the promotional ideas you have. This is the most innovative plan I have seen.

I look forward to reading the book and wish I could purchase more than 5 (friends)

    Steve

  2. Holy Moly! This is the most amazing book promotion I’ve ever seen.

But umm… do people really buy 10,000 copies of a book? I guess maybe a corporation or something or a non-profit that could give them away?

    Really cool idea TIm.

  3. CONTEST

    Hey Tim,

I just recently discoverd you and your blog and have now started to listen to the audiobook of The 4-Hour Workweek. I’m really looking forward to the 4-hour body and oddly enough, I promoted both on my twitter account earlier today (@yourinnerskinny) before I saw this post.

Good luck with your book release and I’ll be grabbing my copy!

    S.

  4. I see the promotion is for 72 hours but I do have one question. Does this apply to those of us who had already pre-ordered the book? Thanks.

  5. Wow! I knew you had something huge up your sleeve, but I had no idea it would be this big! I think a lot of friends and family are about to get your book as a gift.

  6. Tim are these signed books, a new bunch? How do you know if you’re buying the signed editions at BnN? I’ll buy some more copies if they are available.

Also will be cool in a couple years looking back on the book, how / if your thinking would have changed on the topics as you keep tweaking and experimenting and maybe release book two.

  7. I’m all in!! You are totally going to KNOCK THIS OUT OF THE PARK!!! So excited to be involved in history. 🙂 If you need your VIP parties rocked out with any video let me know. We can knock out a stylized piece to show that night. That’s what we are known for Same Day Edits. gebbs.tv or gebbsweddingfilms.com

Thank you soo much for being such an AMAZING inspiration. You have really changed mine and sooooooooo many others lives!!

    1. Ah, good question. It only applies to hardcover, and I’ll clarify that. Thx! I knew I was missing something. If some people already ordered Kindle for this, I’ll honor it up to the time of this comment.

      1. tim, will this apply to those of us who pre-ordered signed copies from B&N a while back when you put out the call earlier on your blog?

      2. Tim, are you finally going to honor this?

I pre-ordered and filled the form as soon as you posted this, but I haven’t received anything yet.

  8. QUESTION: I’ve already paid for two copies of the book on amazon.COM with expedited shipping so I get it before xmas (25th) here in the UK.

I’m on the page to secure the promotion for buying 5 copies – but will I need to cancel my order with amazon and will I get the books before xmas??

  9. Tim, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed here. When you say a magazine subscription is worth $360, it raised an eyebrow for me. The subscription is available directly through the publisher for $29.95 (http://www.cathletics.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8&zenid=feff0e492ffa0372540611ff3d9c00e2).

I think this is a really interesting and outside the box marketing scheme, but that sort of dishonesty really disappoints me and makes me question the value of every other package. I’d love to hear why you did this, because maybe I’m missing something.

    1. Hi Joe,

It’s not dishonesty — it’s a mistake. I had my assistant add up the totals, and wires got crossed somehow. I’ll get it fixed ASAP. There’s no reason I’d lie about something so easy to look up, and so likely to be looked up. It’ll be done.

      Sorry!

      Tim

      1. OK, I checked on this and all is fixed. Here’s what happened: we received an email describing it as “$30 a month” and that’s how the mistake was made. It’s now correctly listed as $30/year. Honest mistake and now fixed.

        Still pretty sick packages 🙂

        Best,

        Tim

  10. Now I begin to understand some of your headlines in the new book. So looking forward to the arrival.

But really I’m more curious about what kind of plans you have (and I’m sure you have some) to increase the long-term value of the book. Do you plan to have any challenges along the lines of ‘Who can transform his body in 14 days?’ or so? I’m sure you have detailed plans already.

    As always, great stuff!

  11. You’re marketing techniques are nothing short of genius! Great work!

I plan on sending all of my clients a copy.

    They’ll become ‘clients for life’

The 14th is almost here, Christmas came 11 days early!

  12. Hey Tim, I ordered my copy last week from bookdepository.com. Does that mean I miss out on the goodies cause I was so eager to buy the book?

    James

  13. WOW! I will not be surprised when you reach your goal.

I thought Gary V. was pushing the envelope with his book bonuses, but looks like you took it to an entirely different level~ as we’ve all come to expect!

    You Rock. Good luck!

  14. Tim,

Will buy another book today if indeed there are 2,000 new signed copies for sale at B&N.

Let us know, I am sure there are many who feel the same.

    Love ya,

    Mitch

  15. This was awesome Tim! I just bought the Sex Machine & Muses package and I can’t wait. I’m planning on giving the books out for Christmas presents and now you just saved me the trouble and time it would have taken going to a packed shopping mall. Can’t wait for the new book.

  16. Holy s**t Tim, without a doubt the most innovative marketing strategy I’ve seen in a long time. Proably ever.

Especially going head to head with the Guiness goliath, I cannot wait to see how this does.

Sadly I cannot afford 10,000 books, but one day soon! 🙂

    Always an inspiration Tim.

    Best wishes.

  17. Hi Tim, I already bought 10 signed copies a month ago, and am willing to buy 10 more copies, but on the EventBrite page it seems that I will only be buying 10 regular copies. Can I buy 10 signed copies from BN and still apply for the Occam’s Protocol bonuses?

  18. Genius!!!

I was wondering, why would someone do the 1000 books one for 4 hours with you, when they could do a trip to India WITH YOU for the same price?!?! Or the other vacation options at that price where you would go as well?!!?

  19. Do these prizes apply to US buyers only or can Canadians get in on the action as well? Waiting to hear back, have my credit card in hand ready to pull the trigger!

  20. I placed an order for 5 books on Amazon.ca today! 🙂

I didn’t see a spot where I could submit the order details in a form (I didn’t use the eventbrite.

I submitted the details under the 3 book order form.

    Thanks,

    Rup

  21. This could be the greatest offer I’ve ever seen Tim seriously. I also agree with the guy above you should name your next book “4 Hour Marketing: How to automate your marketing while you’ve already got the life and body of your dreams”

    Seriously great stuff

  22. This is EPIC Tim. You’re going to smoke the Guinness Book! Good to know I have my holiday shopping covered. Sky’s the limit my man.

    Bien hecho,

    Scott

    1. Is there even anyone who doubts that Tim will leave Guinness in the dust? ^^

btw, I read your post that Tim suggested and subscribed to your blog. I then noticed that your site is loading very slow (especially right now); It seems your server is still dealing with the traffic Tim sent to you. If you experience any further problems (like downtime) I can help you out if you want.

  23. Wow, really awesome stuff going on! You continue to amaze Tim.

Ordered a signed copy on September 30. Attached my receipt from that, can’t wait to get the bonuses.

The only problem with this is that if you beat the Guinness Book of Records off the list it will be another year before they can publish your new record!

  24. Well I think that already pre-ordered books also count. After all they are _pre_ordered and should count towards the release day sales stats.

Anyway, I submitted my receipt from October 🙂 Let’s see if it worked.

Oh and Tim, did you find a good way to deal with hangovers with your self experimentation? If yes, would be glad if you could share that. I could use a remedy now and then 😉

    cheers from Vienna!

  25. Would someone like to donate $16,000 to me? I promise to send postcards. 😉

It was a toss up, I really wanted that thong, but I went for 5 books to add to the batch from the previous order frenzy.

Good luck! I hope you beat down Guinness.

    Alles liebe

    Natalie

  26. Auhn men too bad it costs a lot to order from Amazon and B&N and then have it shipped to Portugal.

Already ordered my copy from Book Depository UK so I hope I have the book by the 15th 🙂

Tim, when will you think of the europeans? (in a Reverend Lovejoy’s wife voice)

  27. Hi Tim, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you, I really do hope you over-reach your goal regarding this book. I’ve pre-ordered 2 signed copies about a month ago…will I still be eligible for the bonuses?

  28. I bought a book the first time around, signed copy. Then recently got an email saying they couldn’t ship the book because of a billing issue. I had 3 days to correct. Odd because they don’t bill until it ships, right? Well, I got that taken care of, but I don’t see “signed” in the order overview. Do I need to call them, or assume everything’s ok? Please don’t use Barnes & Noble again! It was so difficult to call them during their operating hours, and they don’t take email support.

    1. Hi Jeffrey,

I’m so sorry for your trouble! I don’t know what the problem was, but there have been a few slip-ups by B&N, apparently. Alas, they have all of my signed copies! I suppose there is a small risk of an order problem, but that’s the reality at the moment. Most orders are going through OK!

      Sincere apologies,

      Tim

    2. @Jeffrey : I’m not too impressed with B&N’s order processing either. I had to follow these steps to double-check that it was a signed edition after the fact:

      1. go to bn.com/orderstatus

      2. put in your email and password (or email and order number)

      3. go to the Order Details page

      4. under Description, click on the title of the book

      5. scroll down to Product Details on the Overview tab.

      6. one of the bullet points should say “Edition Description: Signed Edition”

      Hope this helps!

      @ Tim : This promotion… effing brilliant.

    1. Hey Charley,

Thanks for the comment. This is for new orders by necessity, but you are definitely eligible for the digital copy of 4HWW. Just hold on to your receipt. More coming soon.

      Thanks!

      Tim

  29. Awesome promotion! I will look forward to a blog post about how you set up all these incredible offers as I doubt it was easy. Any plans to do this at some point in the future?

  30. Hi Tim,

I just repeat my question from the last post, because it is still applicable:

I’m almost 99% sure that you already do this, but here is the idea: Many of the comments on this post are questions that compile into a nice FAQ, don’t they?

    Best

    David

    1. Funny. I find myself reading through the blog’s comments BECAUSE Tim personally (or his VA) responds to the questions/comments of the readers. A FAQ would not have that feel. Tim, thanks for making yourself, at the very least, appear to be a human!

    1. Hi GH,

Thanks for the question. I just added this to the post, but — alas — no. Only hardcover counts for NY Times. The e-book 4HWW will be yours, though, if you do 4HB on Kindle or otherwise. More details coming on that soon.

      All the best,

      Tim

    1. Hi Doug,

Please tell me your kidding! I know Amazon limits to 3 books (they’re using it as a loss leader, it seems), but are you sure it’s limited to 2 copies? On my computer it seems limited to 3. Please let me know!

      Anyone else?

      Tim

      1. Hi (again) Tim,

I looked it up seconds ago for Amazon.de GERMANY (sorry for caps, just wanted to avoid confusion). They limit your pre-orders to 30 (thirty) copies with no shipping costs.

Amazon.com (US) gives me a cap at 3 (three) copies.

Both facts tested in Chrome and Firefox latest stable versions on Mac OS X Leopard.

        Hope this can help you.

        David

      2. I tried ordering 3 copies, and it kept giving me a message that I could only order 2 copies. I tried changing the amount, and Amazon kept changing it to 2 copies. I order frequently from Amazon, and I have never had this problem with quantity.

      3. I ordered 3 from amazon.com this morning no problem. I’m on prime – maybe that makes a difference?

1 for me, 2 for Christmas gifts. I’ve gotten good things from 4HWW, so I want good things for Tim too.

  31. Fabulous promotional work Tim!

I’m sure you’ll get to the questions above but I’ve ordered 2 signed copies and another one today. After already submitting for the one today and then reading through the comments, I figured it’d be best to submit receipts from all three together.

Here’s to going to #1 and staying there!

  32. This truly is a monumental post.

Please answer the question for those of us in Europe. Does this apply to us?

p.s. if I haven’t got a Kindle can I still receive the digital copy of The 4HWW?

    Thanks

  33. Phenomenal promotion, Tim. You have totally raised the bar on average or “cheesy” book launch campaigns that have plagued the Internet for years, and that I have been apart of myself. Free eBooks and eCourses don’t cut the mustard anymore, and they haven’t for years. People want absurd value and mind-altering experiences – not just a trip, but a tour to and Indian archipelago with Miss India or crossing the Atlantic on a 119-foot schooner. Epic!

You’ve inspired me to play a bigger game. I’m in.

  34. Great Thinking Tim. I would love to help you sell 1 million copies but will give you a Free Review of http://thehealthymonk.com when your book is out.

We are Over in New Zealand and My Dad went on Amazon and it does not list a Kindle Version for Pre Order? Is that just as it would be silly and you should just order on the day it comes out?

Or are you holding back until you have got the most Printed Copies sold?

P.S. is Borders or someone releasing it in NZ Book Stores?

  35. Tim, Amazon is limiting it to 3 books for me as well.

I screwed up with the image on the form when I submitted it for the 3 books purchased so I submitted a second one… hope that doesn’t screw anything up.

Cheers, can’t wait for the book to arrive, I’ve been looking forward to it since you first mentioned it on the blog.

    Keep up the good work.

  36. Tim,

Yesterday I read the 4HB chapter about doubling testosterone. I WAS IN HYSTERICS!! I’m literally laughing to myself right now at the memory of reading it. Good shit man! Good shit!

I am a bit surprised that you didn’t include anything in the 4HB about male multiple orgasm, or female ejaculation. You have surely researched these, given your curiosity and friendship with Tallulah. (Will there be any future content about them?)

Also, you must be aware of this, but the links in the book are not currently working (ex: http://www.fourhourbody.com/munger gives me a 404 error).

If this promotion is successful, and I’m sure it will be, will your next book be about marketing (haha)?

    Rock on Bro-dhisattva. =)

  37. So is the book actually good? Or do you just have amazing marketing skills? haha, jk, pre-ordered my copy, so if the book sucks, you got me fooled already

  38. Silly question, perhaps -but if I purchased multiple copies in the pre-order stage …Do I now need to purchase MORE copies to realize the benefits of THIS promotion?

    ~peace

    1. Hi Paul,

No, it’s a great question. The answer is, for most, yes — alas. Just how we planned long ago to do it. BUT, you can absolutely get a digital copy of 4HWW at no cost. More coming on that soon. Promise.

Thank you so much for your support!

      Tim

  39. I have to say, you have balls, and I mean that in a very nice way 🙂

Ordered my one lonely copy yesterday, hope it helps in your NYTimes endeavor anyway.

  40. No love for the eliminators!

There is some irony in a 72 hour (first come/first serve) promotion from someone who advises people to check email once a week…

    Great promo though, I’m in.

    1. I bought 5 in October to be on the call with you (and loved it!).

Trying to buy 5 more but the web site is SLOW! (I’m at work and bandwidth here is great).

I want you to reach your goal but it’s gonna turn people off to get timed out time and again by Eventbrite…

      HELP!

      1. Thanks, Carolina! I’ll check on it. Anyone else having issues?

Once you start a transaction on Eventbrite, you have 10 minutes to finish it, so it should hold your spot. Sorry for the trouble!

        Abrazo,

        Tim

  41. Hi Tim,

Do we need to order the book online to get this deal? Or would it be ok if I were to go to my local B&N and pre-order there, and scan a copy of the receipt to submit?

Frankly, I don’t want to have to wait another two days for the book to ship, but I would love the bonus package as well!

    Thanks!

    Josh

  42. *CONTEST*

I sent a promotion out to my twitter account (@kenkyanon) which is connected to my facebook just now.

I will also email my newsletter subscribers, and upload a YouTube Video later tonight, ~2,000 subscribers

I run a Learn Japanese Through Anime Website

    Thanks Tim,

    Ken

  43. Hi Tim,

Barnes and Noble first sent me an email confirming the order without my address and selling price. Hours later the sent me another email confirming the purchase with the shipping address and selling price. Do you need me to send you the screenshot of the second email as well? (the one with the shipping info and price?). thanks

    Ramiro

  44. Tim,

Since Kindle copies of 4HB are not eligible for the NY Times list, is it possible for you to offer the digital 4HB as a gift for buying the hard copy. I never buy hard books after getting my Kindle, but I bought yours during the pre-sale.

Thanks and good luck with the promotion!

    Ben

  45. For those of you who pre-ordered the book, I would just cancel your previous order and place a new order. At least this is what I’m going to do with my one-book order.

  46. I just ordered 3 and sent you the screen shot

I REALLY hope i didnt miss out on the signed copies 😀

    Love your marketing Tim 😉

    Dan

  47. You wouldn’t believe how much of the innner-consumer you just brought out in me

And I thought I was good at controlling my spending urges…

Can’t wait to read it 😉

  48. CONTEST!

    Hi, Tim

First things, first. It seems that I need to order from the Everbrite link in order to get the bonuses. However, this arrangement make me miss out on the Signed copies from B&N. If it is possible, please make it so I can purchase the signed copies and still claim the giveaway prizes.

This giveaways is pretty massive. Well done. I am trying to pull as much traffic to this post as I can. I’m no social marketing mastermind but I’ll try to promote as best I can. I’m sure you’ll do the same for me if I ever publish a book, right? (no really) 🙂 By the way, 2000 signed copies ? I hope you have something for Carpal Tunnel and/or Arthritis in your book. 🙂

So far, I posted the giveaway on my blog(check it out), on my stumbleupon account, submitted this post to Reddit and Digg. (surprisingly, no one else submitted or Dugg this post before me. Wierd.) I plan to promote further through my twitter and facebook account using Su.pr links.

I particularly enjoyed the fact that Sir Richard’s Condom is in the giveaway. (Unused, right?) I didn’t even know Sir Richards made condoms. That man has his finger in everything. (no pun intended)

My muse has not blessed me with enough monetary rewards to enjoy your more exclusive giveaways… yet. But I must thank you for not forgetting the little guys. Some of the smaller giveaways are pretty nice and perhaps more relevant than the bigger ones.

    Good Luck everybody!

  49. Tim,

I’m a little confused. Do the books have to purchased through the eventbrite link?

In your last comment on this thread you wrote: “Any online retailer is fine…” How do we reserve our spots if we do not purchase through eventbrite?

The reason I ask is that I am trying to buy signed copies through B&N and don’t see how that option is available through eventbrite.

    You’re rocking this, brother!

    Wayne

    1. By the way, the Argo looks AMAZING. I am an avid sailor (my first memory of life was being caught in a storm on a sailboat). If you haven’t read Jimmy Buffett’s book A Salty Piece of Land, I recommend checking it out before your trip. And if you’re ever on the Gulf Coast of Florida, give me a shout and we sail!

    2. I posed the same exact question, I see no way of ordering signed copies through the Eventbrite page, hope Tim sees our posts and responds soon!

  50. Tim, clear me up: we have 72 hours to claim our bonuses but all I have from Amazon is an order confirmation; apparently I won’t get a receipt until 4HB ships. Is 72 hours the deadline to get a receipt in or can I email a screenshot of the order confirmation?

      1. Hey Tim,

I purchased one signed copy and submitted confirmation the day that you posted the contest. However I didn’t receive any type of confirmation email after uploading the image. What is the best course of action to follow up with the bonus material?

Worst case, I have a signed copy 😉

  51. Great promo! Agreed with some of the gals in the last post …that at first I thought this was geared more toward males, and particularly bodybuilders. After reading you last post, however, I decided there was some useful content to me as well. Ordered my 1 copy, and I hope it helps you out Tim!

Loved 4HWW, by the way, and have become a fan of the blog as well. I just like the way you think, man! I look forward to even more useful, innovative, out-of-the-box content from you in the future.

  52. you have officially gone beyond rocktar status

and if u do achive ur goal which u will other wise you would not have done this ur in the history books forever as setting the bar

thanks for setting the bar so high gives me more motivation to dream bigger

    ur long time fan

    -josh

  53. HeyTim

Of course I’m one of hundreds of thousands supporting your book launch for the sake of beating the Guinness Book of Records – I have a gripe with them as they denied our World Record breaking Dragon Boat crossing of the English Channel in 2007 because we didn’t have a head or tail on our boat!

(We would have sunk had we fixed those to our boat).

So go for it, That said do you really think an hour with you is priceless?

    Valuable i’m sure but priceless?

Natalie (in Buenos Aires – just arrived for 6 months to live my suitcase entrepreneur lifestyle)

    1. Just did my best to get this promotion up on time. Not priceless for anyone, of course. The point being, just: I don’t usually sell my time. It’s not something you can buy. Not priceless in the “it’s worth $10,000,000,000+ for an hour with me.” Hope that helps…

  54. @tim – not sure if this is just me but the book doesnt show up in amazon when I search for kindle version but does when I search in google….done on purpose to bump hardcopy sales? Not sure if you’re aware of this

  55. Just to confirm an earlier comment:

Any online retailer is fine? Regardless of purchase country? If from a foreign country, do I need to still purchase through an American store?

  56. I’ve pre-ordered my Kindle copy already, shoot. Shame on NYT for counting only hardcopies.

Still, Tim, you’re gonna hold the Guinness World Record for eBook sales. Even if there’s no such thing, we know it!

    Masato

  57. If anyone else is getting the error:

There was a problem with your submission.

Your submission is missing the secure POST key.

When uploading your receipt using Chrome, switch to Firefox and it’ll work.

  58. Tim – I got a Kindle edition last week, canceled it today when I saw this post, but then I bought one again after reading the comment saying you will honor ebook sales. So I should be fine right? If not, I can still cancel that and buy a hardcover, but I’d rather not cause I’ve been in the process of cleaning house and getting rid of my physical books. Thanks!

  59. CONTEST

    Awesome promotion!

I created an extremely simple android application to promote the four hour body, exposing it to a further 300,000 new android devices every day. This took about an hour from design phase to uploading to the android market.

Over the first day with the only advertising being a wall posting on your official facebook page.

    Downloads: 150

    Affiliate link clicks: 80

Assuming 9500 (25 percent) of your facebook followers have android phones thats a .015 conversion to downloading the app, not bad when you consider you have to click to comments other than Tim Ferriss’s, which most people aren’t interested in, find the application and download it.

The affiliate clickthrough from a Buy now link in the application is 53% which is also a awesome conversion rate.

As an accidental side effect as of 12/9 the search “four hour body” ranked the application on the first page of google, just under all the dominant portals ie, your website, amazon and barnes and noble. When you consider this happened from an auto generated link (from indexing website androlib) and against websites which have taken serious effort to SEO optimize this is quite an achievement, and without SEO even being considered. I expect this to drop dramatically as other promotors SEO optimize heavily to get a share of this 4 million in prizes, but for no direct SEO effort still a good result.

    Good luck with the launch!

  60. Tim, if no one has suggested a non-profit to donate books too yet, I would like to throw my organization’s “hat in the ring”. We work to motivate wounded soldiers and teach transitional life skills. We use cutting-edge physical training (kettlebells, body weight training, Systema, and adventure sports) to motivate the body along with personal facilitation and mentoring to motivate the mind. Choice, challenge, and change are the keys – you use a similar ideal. We even have a school to teach our participants how to do this for other soldiers. Your book would be a great help to many of these wounded warriors—even better, come out and talk to them.

    Doc,

    President, Program Writer, and Cofounder

(You always have a sparring partner here in Colorado Springs)

  61. Tim – I see a new title in our Everyday Genius Institute series: Think like a Genius Marketer. And your picture is on the cover. 🙂 I agree with many of the comments here that this promotion – and release timing – is pure genius. Good luck next week!

  62. Hi Tim,

I just wanted to check with you that the 1st and 2nd deals (1 or 3 books) are also valid outside of the USA. I’m in Canada!

    Thanks,

    Dave

  63. Tim,

Do you know the dates of your Q&A sessions yet? I will be in Antarctica until late Februrary, and may have trouble connecting, especially via Skype, or any other VOIP service (as the NSF wont allow their use – both a security and a bandwidth issue). If I am not able to attend my particular session, would it be possible to join in a later one if it coincided with my return? These sessions are obviously the most valuable part of your promotion, and are the only reason I would personally need 5 or more copies of your book (although I’ll have no problems finding family and friends to give them to).

    Thanks Tim. Cheers, Mark

  64. Jeeeeez, you’ve been BUSY, Tim.

Great job. I’m sure this will be a huge success. I’ve been skipping around chapters in my advance copy of 4HB and it’s AWESOME.

I had no idea how huge of a deal this book was going to be. Well done!

    – Jeff

  65. Oh yeah…

Tim, the chapters of the book I read last week were hilariously valuable. I suspect you may have modeled some of your writing style after Neil Strauss. Lovin’ it!

    Jeff

  66. What if we want to apply for more than one package? For example, I would die to go on the African Safari, but I would also be happy with the ‘Four Hours with Tim in San Francisco’ package. Should I fill out a separate entry form or will we be notified if we missed the boat? Thanks!

    Brad

  67. Tim,

I just purchased 5 signed books from Barnes & Noble failing to realize that I would not get credit for all 5 if not purchased through Eventbrite as it relates to getting bonuses. Is there anyway for me to get the signed books and get the 5 bonus offer?

I wish you great success with your new book!

    Adam Simon

  68. You may have answered this already but I couldn’t find it in the post or the comments. I purchased 5 copies right after they became available for preorder. Does that mean I am not eligible for this promotion? Do I have to purchase them right now?

  69. *CONTEST*

I’m going to keep it short and sweet. My approach is simple, and that’s to hit a niche that NEEDS this book. Others might use the same tactics that I’ll provide, but I can guarantee that their target market isn’t as strong as mine.

I’m a professional poker player, mostly online. And I know that my community is generally out of shape and would rather spend most of their time “grinding” for extra money. This market, mostly ages 18-28, do not adhere to the 9-5 and are looking for a lifestyle that you have paved the path for.

I’m only at the beginning stages of my muse, as a matter of fact I’ve finished 4HWW and started it a few days ago (website provided). Now while I can’t drive in enough traffic in the next 72 hours to sell 50,000 copies. I can’t refute that, but instead of focusing on short term goals, I’ll target long-term sustainability.

    Plan for action:

[x] Post on my website promoting your book and why the poker community needs it. [Sales = TBA]

[x] Discussion threads on the most popular poker forums including twoplustwo, DeucesCracked, and Cardrunners (links can be provided if you’re interested in reading their thoughts). [Exposure = Priceless]

    [x]Re-tweet for my poker followers.

    [ ] 50,000 copies in 72 hours

[x] 50,000 copies over the next year

  70. Tim,

Great promotion! I’m wondering how long it took you from concept to now pulling this all together (weeks? months?). Very creative and excellent execution leveraging slideshare.

Just purchased the book and looking forward to reading it – hope you break the record!

    -Yan

  71. Hey Tim, just purchased my one copy! so excited, now that i’ve sent you some personal information from the receipt, I hope you don’t take advantage… lol

funny thing was i was debating pre-ordering for a long while now… i open up my google reader and i notice i haven’t checked your blog in a day or two. seemed like a perfect excuse to pre-order.

    cheers,

    -Victor

  72. I like the idea but I honestly wasn’t that motivated make another purchase (I already purchased a few from BN when they first came out).

I’m interested to see the results.

QUESTION: I thought you and kevin rose were boys, why is he with his 1.2 million twitter followers not retweeting this?

    Huge Fan, thanks for everything.

  73. CONTEST

First of all, I say CONGRATS on an amazing idea. This is the type of thing I would be doing if I had your resources! I am envious at the level of grandeur of this whole promotion!

I am a 35-yr old out of shape actor/filmmaker who is in constant pain and can feel my body hating me for the bad diet and poor sleeping habits and lack of proper exercise. The 4 Hour Body is exactly what I have been waiting for! Being a professional filmmaker my first thought is to film everything… so I plan to do both a daily video blog as well as document the entire process of me following your advice to go from the fat, broken down, old-feeling 35-yr old to being the spry, exuberant, full-of-energy 35-yr old that I know I can be!

Great for you, because my before and after will be an excellent resource to show the results one can achieve. Great for me, because I can help get my body under control. I’ll have more energy to pump out more (quantity & quality) works and I’ll be able to get the roles that I want (leading man) as opposed to being stuck being the chubby buddy or homeless man on the street. My weight loss goal is 45 lbs… I hope to be able to discuss the whole process with you sometime.

I made the first feature length movie with an iPhone 4G, now I plan to make even more history along with you and your book!

Can’t wait to get the book and get started!

    -Josh

  74. Just a heads up for UK (and I’m guessing, Europe) orders for the 5-Book promotion: Books-A-Million (booksamillion.com) are handling the shipping, and for international UK orders the shipping methods available to Books-A-Million are “Priority International Shipping (4 to 7 business days)” and “Fastest International Shipping (2 to 4 business days)”. I’m assuming they will opt for Priority International Shipping to save costs, so the books may arrive before the 25th, or at least sometime in December.

You can confirm what shipping method is available for your country by going through the order process on the website. If you’re lucky, the only available shipping method to your country could be “Fastest International Shipping” – you’ll essentially be getting free expedited international shipping.

I’m assuming booksamillion.com will honour their international orders and ship the books on pub day.

  75. This is the most genius promotion campaign i have ever seen. You are leveraging your amazing readers and there interests to get increased book sales. Your readers get free swag and advertisers get to influence a well target segment of the population.

    I am in awe….

    30 books are being purchased

  76. Hey Tim – I realize you answer many more questions during the launching of the book – good PR!

Do you still work 4 hours a week???

Can you direct this amazing energy and creativity to promote world peace – I am working in education and human rights and would like to see your help there!

Can’t wait to get my copy/copies of the book!

  77. Tim,

Does shipment to a military APO (considered a US address) count towards the NY Times Bestseller List.

    Currently Deployed,

    Brandon

    1. Hi Brandon,

That’s a GREAT question. I will override them and just say this: please participate. I’ll get the books to you overseas if the address is an APO. For the bigger stuff, I might need a US mailing address, but I’m happy to give it a shot.

      Thank you for your support,

      Tim

      1. Tim – I’m pretty sure that mailing to an APO is the same as mailing to any regular US address (at least, the postage is the same and you can ship Priority Mail boxes and stuff like that to them.

        Laura

  78. Hi, Tim

Sorry to ask this again. Normally I would wait, but the Giveaway is only 72 hours(24 of it already gone) and it takes some time to get a response. It seems the only way to get the prizes is to purchase “4 hour body” through EverBrite. Unfortunately this will make me miss out on the Signed copies at B&N. Is there a way I can get the order through B&N (getting the signed copies) and still get prizes ? or Would submitting B&N receipt do the trick ?

    Thank you.

  79. Tim, I bought 10 copies of FHWW during your last promotion, and have yet to hear back from Amy about getting the (signed?) Four-hour Body before it’s released, despite sending her several emails in the last fww weeks. The 12 month dropbox bonus was awesome, but I mainly bought the books to get early access to your new book…

  80. You continue to amaze. Brilliant!

One thing, though–as of 4:25am Pacific Time, I still don’t have a notice about this post in my subscribed email. By the time I just happened to check in, there were 176 comments. For a time-sensitive, limited-slot post aimed at people who are trying to cut back on email-checking frequency–that could be an issue…

    Glad I checked in!

  81. Oh–which raises the question: 72 hours from when? I didn’t see a post time or end-time listed (maybe I missed it?), and have no email listing a post time. (Btw, amazon’s price is under the $16 mentioned, but I assume it’s all good.) Again–great idea!

  82. Hey Tim,

Really hope the offer holds for those living outside the US.

I ordered the first deal with one book via amazon:)

Looking forward to learning all the great content!

  83. Hi Tim!

I can see that you are making a tremendous effort into the marketing of the 4-hour body.

I have a marketing proposal that I think you will find very interesting. If you would like to hear about it please contact me.

Would like to wish you best of luck with the book anyway, and I cant wait to read it.

    Christian

  84. Since there seems to be a bit of confusion about it, If I purchased the book on September 30, and all I applied for was the fundamentals, will I be receiving all 3 (Cookbook, 4HWW, and Ramit Sethi) or will I have to purchase another copy in order to get fundamentals?

    1. Hi Rick,

Thanks for the comment. This promotion is for new orders, but you will still have a chance to get a digital copy of 4HWW for your one order. More details to come on that soon.

      Thank you for your support!

      Tim

      1. I’ll have to remember in the future not to order my book so far in advance. Was looking forward to the other two bonuses. Already have your other book.

  85. Hey Tim.

Loved your first book and can’t wait for this one.

Just wanted to know if this promotion goes out to non-US citizens.

    Thanks.

      1. Hey Tim,

sorry about the stupid question. So, is it possible to order on amazon.ca and still get the e-books to a Canadian address? Just not the hard goods. I think I have that right.

        Trevor

      2. Tim, when we submit our proof of purchase, can we censor the billing/shipping info?

I purchased on Amazon, cut out my CC#s, billing addy, and all shipping lines but “United States”. Is that ok?

Can’t be too careful with privacy these days…

  86. In the spirit of the Land Rush, I canceled my Kindle pre-order, made a full book purchase and submitted my receipt. For this extra step, I still receive an e-book, a physical book (which I now will gift) and the ‘Slow-Carb Cookbook’! I think two minutes of extra time was well worth the effort, thanks Tim for the incentive. May you blow away the NYT list…

  87. Tim this is literally the best promotion I’ve ever seen. Its amazing. Your a marketing genius. You should really write the book “4 hour marketing: How to automate your marketing while you’ve already got the lifestyle and body of your dreams”

What do you think? ha ha ha

    1. I doubt Tim will name his next book 4 Hour Marketing. Sitters will just hold onto this URL and (1) wait for him to buy it from them or (2) just drive traffic to advance their interests by leeching off of the Four Hour brand. The red herring technique (very clever) worked with the Four Hour Body, but I don’t know Tim will try that once more. Then again, it will seem like a discontinuation from the Four Hour series. I’m interested in what Tim will do about this.

On another note, I agree that this promotion is ridiculous. My mind literally blanked out when I saw this post. Kudos to Tim, he truly understands and caters to his audience. This offer will definitely convert (sorry, couldn’t think of a better word) people chilling on the fence.

  88. Wow, that’s some serious promotional packages, most of them seem really good value too. I’m certain you’ll hit the NY times #1 list with it! Ordered my book already 🙂

  89. Hey Tim,

There is a lot of learning this blog post…thanks for the lessons.

Question – I purchased it minutes after I got a email several months back, show some love to your earlier fans :). Do I qualify (which I think I read in past post I do) and what would I do?

    Cheers,

    Mukul

PS – Last year, I spent 5 weeks in Beuros Aires to see if it was real and it was. Looks for a place this winter to do the same.

  90. Tim,

I’ve been reading your blog for years and you never cease to amaze me.

Just ordered your book and looking forward to the bonuses

  91. This has got to be the most enticing book marketing campaign I’ve ever seen Tim… truly inspiring for all book authors.

I’d love to push 100 or so books for you on a live webinar (normally get 1,500 – 2,000 to register, and 800 show up live when I sell $1,000 price point products. With your price point, it should convert well over 25% with the bonuses I’d throw in also.) Let me know if I can help with this at all during the launch.

    Lewis

  92. Hey Tim,

I’m sure after reading this book there will be plenty of readers/fans excited to try various studies (such as the one related to your cell phone…etc), myself included.

Have you considered utilizing this excitement and curiosity in an official manner for your readers to easily help you conduct a much larger base of research? This could generate alot of momentum and I think readers would be excited to be a part of something like this.

    Thanks,

    – Chris

  93. I just purchase the The Harajuku Package, and will be giving away all of the books to my readers as a way to promote my new blog (since I already pre-ordered my copy through Amazon)!

Thanks for the amazing promotion, Tim! I know that you can kick Guinness’s behind 😉

  94. I did a pre-order of the book on September 29th. At that time you were running the signed edition promotion. But on my Barnes & Noble confirmation it nowhere says Signed Edition. I can’t find it anywhere.

How do i know i am getting the signed edition and there was no mistake?

    1. Hi Marcel,

B&N is a bit confusing on this. If you ordered through the signed copy link I used back then, you should be fine. That said (and actually do hate to suggest this), if you can afford to get one more copy to ensure that’s the case, it wouldn’t hurt as insurance. But, if you used the signed link at the time of the first promotion, you *should* be OK.

      Thank you!

      Tim

      1. Tim!

        I’m a bit confused.

If we have pre-ordered the B&N copies (5+) weeks ago during your first promotion, will we get a free digital (kindle) copy of the book automatically?

Do I have to do ANYTHING if I have already submited the receipt (& attended your conference call) but live outside US?

  95. Ah, Tim. You make me wish I had $16K and blow it all on you! Or even better $80K and party!! That would be my favorite. But I am not there yet. In the mean time, I will be looking for the next promotion where luck or merit will get me qualified.

P.S. stating the obvious here, but great idea.

    Cheers!

    a

  96. Tim,

30 books headed my way! Cannot wait to read this book and I just found 29 Christmas presents.

I also bought them because I found Robb Wolf and The Paleo Solution through your blog and wanted to return the favor.

    Happy Holidays!

    -Kevin

  97. Are you going to tell me there is NO package for buying 100,000 books? Are you SERIOUS? Unacceptable.

I’ll pick one up first thing Tuesday ;).

  98. TIM, I know you are a good Spanish speaker, then…

Tu libro sera una gran hit, felicidades!

Ya puse mi orden, ya envíe el recibo, como obtengo la copia digital de 4hww?

Mañana viajo a Italia y Turquia y será un gran aliado llevarlo en la Ipad.

    Gracias!!

    Ruben PG, Chihuahua, Mex.

(I already put my order, sent the receipt, but how can I get the digital copy of 4hww?) THanks!

  99. CONTEST

I’m running a Google Ad campaign to promote this launch. Here is text for the ad:

    Book Launch Giveaway

The biggest book launch in history.

$4 million in prizes. Claim yours.

I’ll post an update once I have some click-through data. Stay tuned…

  100. Tim, followed your Buy one copy at either Barnes and Noble (2,000 signed copies available!) link, but saw no mention of an autograph. Did I miss it? Is it sold out? Either way it’s cool, just wondering…

    Adam

  101. My f-in god Tim. This is absolutely insane. You have the most ridiculous contest generating skills i’ve ever seen.

I honestly think you should just go ballistic with this book. You made a movie trailer thing for the book. Why not advertise that on national tv? I know, expensive – but seriously this book would become an absolute phenomenon if you did that. I wouldn’t be surprised if it became the best selling fitness/health book ever.

I mean you already have plenty of money, why not just go nuts spending money to promote this book in an absolutely epic way. I think it’s guaranteed that even if your in the red for a while you’ll eventually make profit.

I mean lots of people are still buying the four work week but I will tell you, the MAINSTREAM doesn’t really know a thing about it. Of course, the actual mainstream is not necessarily going to be ready for the concepts in the four hour work week but this four hour body book could appeal to almost anyone in the world.

Imagine if you had blockbuster movie level of advertisement on this book? You’d probably end up on the cover of time, newsweek etc. just based on the unprecedented advertising campaign.

I personally would just love to see that cause it would be grandiose as hell.

      1. I agree, go nuts! I only know about you because I randomly stumbled across the 4-Hour Workweek in a bookstore while just browsing. I think this new book has even more widespread applicability than the last, and if you could somehow get the message out, you’d have no trouble topping the Guinness Book of World Records 🙂

      2. Yeah man, very few people seem to hit the tipping point of making something a mega phenomenon. Phenomenons and sensations are pretty widespread, for instance in music and movies… every year there’s always a good amount of releases that capture a lot of attention and a lot of sales. However it seems to only happen a couple times a DECADE that something comes out that gets taken to an absolutely epic level.

Eminem, Harry Potter, Lil Wayne, etc.

It seems like that just rarely ever happens at all with books. I don’t think book publishers are particularly good at advertising. If so, why would they continue to push writers to do book signing tours when they aren’t even that effective. You barely ever see books advertised on tv or in magazines.

It seems like the only way books sell a huge amount of copies is if they somehow catch the attention of a media outlet. For instance oprah, wired, rolling stones etc.

But unless something is literally pushed IN THE PUBLICS FACE it seems very rare that it will snowball into becoming a craze that all people and media are interested in.

That’s what happened with eminem. He came out as an outrageous character who captured the attention of the youth with his great rhymes and crazy style… but he also was backed by a huge marketing machine that invested massive amounts of money into causing him to dominate the attention of the media and the general public.

It just seems like once you reach a certain point where everyone is exposed to something in a way that makes them go “what’s that all about, that is intriguing and unexpected” the actual buzz itself seems to take on a life of its own beyond even the actual product. As in, at that point the worlds attention is captured simply because the product or person is making such a stir, regardless of what actually it is that they are doing.

I mean, how many people do you think saw lord of the rings, titanic or avatar just because EVERYONE went to see it, the media was constantly talking about it, and the production budgets were some of the highest ever, which in itself got them attention.

I mean I doubt lots of people started out having a high degree of interest in the actual story of the titanic. It’s just that you always go check out the thing that become an epic phenomenon.

No one wants to be left out of the loop on something thats capturing EVERYONES attention.

That’s why I think you should pull out all the stops and invest half your f-in fortune if you have to just to make this book hit the tipping point where no one can ignore it.

I don’t think i’ve EVER heard of a book which actually had a massive tv commercial campaign like they do with movies. That alone would generate interest by the media.

  102. “For the NY Times, the book bonuses can only apply to HARDCOVER copies shipped to US addresses. Sorry!”

So no bonuses for non-US addresses? =(

I already sent my screenshot confirming 3 hardback copies bought from amazon.com to ship here in the UK. Can I (and others in a similar situation) still get your slow-carb cookbook?

  103. Hey Tim,

Great stuff! Good luck on the launch. Really sucks that Canadians (and all other countries outside of the U.S.) are excluded from the bonuses. Hopefully that will change for the 3rd book! I would have bought the hardcover but I’ll have to settle for the kindle version instead. Anyway, love your stuff. Good luck!

    1. Hi Blake,

I really wish we could do the world, but, alas:

      – Many of the companies can’t afford to ship things overseas.

      – The damn list only counts for US shipping addresses!

      Next time 🙂

      Tim

      1. What about the digital items? If a Canadian ordered from the American Amazon site but it’s being shipped to a Canadian address, does that mean no digital bonuses?

Is the slow-carb cookbook book digital?

  104. Yeah I realized…Was going to call a person I know in Arizona but somehow the question of “Can I send 30 books and loads of other stuff to your address for a few months” seems inappropriate haha..

    I did order 3 though!

  105. Ordered the 30 books deal — awesome. Will there be a link or form to indicate specifications for the bonuses (e.g., size of jeans, kettlebell weight)?

    1. Hi Neil,

Thanks, man! Absolutely, we’ll figure out the specs next week, most likely. You’ll love the kettlebell. If you’re 140 lbs. plus and in decent shape (10-15 pounds of fat is fine), then a 24kg KB is usually appropriate.

      More soon,

      Tim

  106. Lol, this is the third time I’ve purchased, and the purchases just keep getting bigger!!!

Nice packages, Tim. I’ll be looking forward to the post in which you reveal how you got all these prizes for the most incredible book launch bonus package ever!

  107. Not priceless in the “it’s worth $10,000,000,000+ for an hour with me.”

    – Tim

I hope this type of thinking doesn’t stop you from doing things like “The Random Show”, because I agree you are worth a lot – but we need the info and sanity you bring to us every month. Please keep up the ventures you do mate for us, we all use your wisdom to improve our lives on a daily basis. Thank you for it and it is much appreciated. I don’t think this is arrogant thinking btw, just making sure you understand how important it is to us the seemingly small things you do – they change lives my friend.

  108. Hey Tim,

Great idea for marketing the book! I wish you luck on accomplishing your goal and I expect you to surpass the sales of the Guiness Book of World Records. If anyone could do it, it would be you!

I bought the 5 pack to help you out as much as I could and I am excited about all of the bonuses I will receive!

My website that I linked to my profile, is for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program! I volunteer for them and I think it is very important especially during the Holidays for the under-privileged children to have “somebody” in their lives to show them love! If you get a chance, check it out! Otherwise, have a great holiday 🙂

  109. Tim, you are a genius! This is the most incredible marketing campaign I’ve ever seen!

I wonder who would be getting the big prizes. It seems like only high volume stores could get it, or maybe corporate as a gift for their employees…

  110. Now that you’re done with this book you can start on “The Four Hour Marketing Campaign”.

I like the sound of that. Send royalty checks to:

    The GCC Group

    PO Box 13175

    Charleston, SC 29422

    Thanks.

    1. Hi Jonathan,

The endnote citations might clear up the calorie discussion, which gets dense. The endnotes (around 500 total) go live online once the book is out and feature the relevant sentences so you can find the references you’re looking for.

This question that brings up the most frustrating aspect of calorimetry, which caused a huge headache during book research: its variability!

Depending on how close you can emulate an isolated (or perhaps closed) thermodynamic system for incineration, which is how calories are calculated, the indices end up all over the map. I’ve seen the rooms and tools used, and if you use numbers from different algorithms, based on different assumptions, the math ends up making little sense. There are certainly charts that serve as the most standard references, but the overarching messages are the most actionable: diet is more important for fat loss than exercise (demonstrable from a longitudinal standpoint); and not all calories are created equal.

Hope that somehow helps. I’ll be writing more on this stuff soon.

      Best,

      Tim

  111. If I had $160,000 to spare, I would definitely participate.

Question: If you beat the sales of the Guinness Book of World Records, does that mean you will end up as an entry in the next edition of the Guinness Book of World Records?

  112. Wow, this is crazy in a good way. Tim, I’m one of your biggest fans and I promote you like mad (in my circle of friends). I wish you the best in achieving your goal of beating the Guinness book!

Your new book, 4HB, has some really awesome stuff in it! As a Kinesiologist and someone who has studied in the field for 6 years I have to say that this book is a great investment of time and money for anyone serious about making physiological changes in their life.

  113. Awesome idea. I just ordered two books and filled out the ‘bonus form’ twice (under the name of Adriaan Schipper). Does this entitle me to twice the single book order goodies?

  114. NON-U.S. BUYERS can maybe ship books to a friend in the US to qualify? Perhaps even outsource the shipment of individual books: have all shipped to US dude (or dudette or business), who then sends them on to the folks on your Christmas or other gift list, using addresses and notes or cards you supply (or direct the preparation of).

Or just have the US dude/tte send the whole lot on to you. If separate billing/shipping addresses a problem, have a US buyer order for you–assuming Tim’s goodies are transferable.

Maybe Tim can weigh in on this?

  115. “IMPORTANT NOTES:

    – For the NY Times, the book bonuses can only apply to HARDCOVER copies shipped to US addresses. Sorry!”

Uh… I think this should have been mentioned up front. I already purchased 3 books to get the bonuses and I’m in Canada.

      1. Tim,

I still haven’t received all the bonuses for the 3 book purchase, except for a confirmation email from the Performance Menu Journal? Do you know when the others will arrive?

  116. Note to self: NEVER EVER check the box “Notify me of followup comments via e-mail” on your blog.

Hundreds of emails in my inbox.

    Cheers!

  117. Just double checking, re: shipping.

    Eventbrite says:

“All bonuses will be delivered the week of 12/14 (digital) or the week of 12/21 (physical goods).”

Do the books purchased through eventbrite come through on the week of 12/21, or are they delivered seperately?

    1. Hi Rob,

Good catch. I should clarify this. All books will ship between 12/14-12/16, and I’m aiming for 12/14 or 12/15. By “physical goods” I meant the other non-book stuff.

      Thanks!

      Tim

    1. Hi Chris,

Totally fine. Thank you for taking the time to review it! Hope to see you some day on the mats, where you will most surely arm bar me in 60 seconds 🙂

      All the best,

      Tim

  118. Tim! I just ordered the Harajuku package of 5 books. I am looking forward to asking you questions about my muse and testing. Best of luck beating out the Guinness World Record book. I’ll be giving the extras to my family for Christmas. Will the books arrive before then?

  119. Hi, i bought the 3 copies and sent the screenshot in yesterday, but i live outside the US and wasnt aware of the ‘only inside the US’ thing

I’m happy to pay for postage of the other stuff if that works??

Please let me know who i can contact about this

    Thanks

    Dan

      1. Hi, I did the same thing as Dan on Thursday. Has the page been updated since then as I thought I’d checked whether it was available overseas? Should I cancel and go through Hop Skip Go? I don’t mind not receiving the ‘physical’ items if need be.

        Thanks

        Karen

  120. I have a friend inside the US that i might be able to get the hard goods shipped to..?

Should i just fill out the form again and put their address in?

  121. If I order the 5 book option through eventbrite, it states that the bonus materials will be shipped out the week of December 21st. However it does NOT specify when the books will be checked out. When will they be shipped out? I am based in Canada, and would like to receive them a week earlier to give out as Xmas gifts.

  122. Timothy, What about us poor Über supporters that have, long ago, purchased 5 of the, soon to break The Guinness Book of World Records record, “4-Hour Body” on Amazon? Do we qualify for the Land Rush?

    Gracias,

    Stephen

  123. Tim- perhaps Hop Shop Go (co-owned by PayPal, I think) would be of use for your international readers? It’s a service that allows non-U.S. customers to shop online U.S. stores and have goods delivered to a U.S. address, who then collect them and forward them to wherever you live. Just a thought… http://www.hopshopgo.com/

      1. Sorry to say, i hopshopgo with out checking the price….the $16 book came to be +$50 shipment. well this will be for lesson learned 🙂 , hope to get the bonus so i can consolidate shipment

  124. Hi Tim,

Don’t you think it would be fair to send the gifts of the “fundamental pack” even to the Kindle Edition buyers?

As I live in Europe, I don’t want to wait 1/2 weeks to receive my book and the gifts seems quite interesting !

Anyway, congratulations for the promotion ! Amazing work !

    Quentin

  125. Tim – just tried to buy the book (Kindle edition) from Germany and was notified that due to copyright issues the book was not available. Do you plan to release the book internationally as well?

Any chance of getting the digital version right now?

    Thanks, Niftan

  126. Hi Tim,

    Quick one:

    1. if a book store buys say 1k books for resale, would that count?

    2. trick idea: why don’t you use the money you earn from first 20k books sold to buy another 10k books privately and then sell them again, it will cost you zero, and your NYT score would go up by 10k books;)

    1. Hi Marcin!

      See below:

      1. if a book store buys say 1k books for resale, would that count?

      TIM: Yes.

      2. trick idea: why don’t you use the money you earn from first 20k books sold to buy another 10k books privately and then sell them again, it will cost you zero, and your NYT score would go up by 10k books;)

TIM: Not a bad idea, but I’d like to see if I can do it without buying my own books 🙂

      Thanks!

      Tim

      1. Hello Tim,

Would it not be more satisfying to get the book in Guinness or the NYT list because the content is awesome, instead of competitions and gimmicks?

        Jissus

        1. Hi Jissus,

All non-fiction authors do promotions. This includes Guinness, which has an entire WEEK dedicated to it on Regis and Kelly. I’m using the tools as my disposal, just as they are. At the end of the day, I believe my content is better, but Guinness has far more resources than I do. If anyone is relying more with content, it would be me.

          Hope that helps,

          Tim

      2. …but what you’re doing right now (especially the big prizes) is not *that* different from buying your own books. I like what you’re doing, but you can’t pretend to be a 100% saint here 🙂

And a question: do you know if buying one’s own books to get to the NY Times list is common?

        Thank you.

        1. Hi Jonathan,

I would submit that it’s a bit different. I’d estimate 50%+ of the business book authors who hit NYT buy their own books and just put them in storage. I did not do that, nor do I plan to. I will ensure all books get into the hands of individuals. The goal, well beyond NYT, is a movement. For that, the books need to be in people’s hands. Hitting #1 NYT goes a long way to ensure the message is heard most widely.

          Hope that helps!

          Tim

  127. CONTEST =========================================

    Hey Tim,

I present to you a gift of TEN THOUSAND advertisements for “The 4-Hour Body”, ready for importing into Google Adwords. I have been working on an invention with automatically generates ad text for Google AdWords and related Paid Search systems, and I figured it would be cool to test it on you, since you claim to be a human guinea pig ;-). I hope you find this useful, or at least find my creativity worthy of your competition.

    Check it out here: http://okgodoit.com/4hb

    1. I’ve been working all night on those ads, and I’m happy to say that I’ve just got all 10,000 loaded into my Google AdWords account, and they should be running live in a bit. I’m a student and don’t have a huge budget to run the ads, but I’ve allocated a little over $100 for this campaign. If you are interested, I can guide you through how to upload them into your own account, which I’m sure would be better funded and make a much bigger impact.

Either way, congratulations on the new book, I can’t wait to read it! I’m debating if I want to order 1 copy, 30, or 1000 (if only I had $16k lying around…). Your first book really did change my perspective on life, and I’m confident your second will be just as big of a hit.

      1. I’m sorry if those posts sounded a bit spammy, but I literally didn’t sleep last night while working on it, so I wasn’t as eloquent as I might have been. Anyway, a quick update: the ads I posted to AdWords have collectively run over 15,000 impressions. I’ll have to wait a day to see the conversion rates, but I’ll let you know tomorrow how many books people purchased through them.

  128. Hey Tim!

This may have been brought up or maybe not, but the pre-order for the book on Amazon is not actually $16 it’s $14.51. Does that still count toward the package? I can only afford one right now, but I want to support and join in the fun any way I can.

    All the best,

    Josh

  129. Tim,

Great promo and energy behind it. I really like the video that shows on the Amazon purchase page, well done. However, I’ve seen you doing some crazy stuff and kept waiting to see you in the video in action. Next book?

    Scott

  130. Hi Tim,

First of all, kudos for the EPIC book launch! Just a quick question that’s probably on a lot of minds here: How is the shipping for the books, bonuses, etc. going to work out if you buy the bigger (10+ books) packages? Finally, thanks for the great info you’ve provided over the years, keep up the uber-quality work. This site is like crack for action-oriented polymaths!

    Jason

    1. Hi Jason,

Damn — great point. The shipping is on me. I’m covering all shipping for the bigger packages. Need to update that. Might have helped the promotion!

      Thank you, Jason,

      Tim

  131. Hey Tim,

Awesome promotions, unbelievable indeed! Sadly, I already pre-ordered 5 books back in October, but I can’t wait till you post the details for getting the 4HWW ebook. I also liked that you offered the US address sign up option for people outside the country. I thought that was very proactive, do these count towards the best seller list as well?? That would be pretty cool!

I hate to plug this in here, I really do, but I actually do the same type of business for international sales at my firm (I will hold back on the name of my company to prevent piggy back promotion). After looking at hopshopgo I’m convinced that we can offer better rates, faster service, and safer delivery to over 220 countries at no cost to you. I thought it can help boost your sales and numbers for NY Times Best Seller if people outside the US could get better deals on shipping! Shoot me an email if your interested.

    JP

    1. Thanks for the tactful comment, Jean-Paul. Many people should learn from you. I will have an email sent to you. If you had just plugged your company, it would have automatically been deleted.

Thank you for following the comment rules, and for commenting!

      Best,

      Tim

      1. Hey Tim

Hope this isn’t a silly question but is there anything in your book dedicated to becoming more incredibly flexible. Thats something I’m very interested in becoming (because I honestly have no problems with fitness or muscle building)

All the best with the book launch

        Niall

  132. Hey Tim,

Just picked up the The Harajuku Package and will have it shipped to Canada using HSG (<– love this arrangement). Can't wait to receive the books and the goodies.

One question: when can we expect the revelation of the 'super secret' startup that will be carrying out the 'The Uberman: Full body testing' bonus (if ever)?

Huge thanks & Happy Holidays, Tim.

  133. Hey Tim,

Congrat’s on a FANTASTIC book launch – just bought my copy!

Wish I were going to the party, but alas, I won’t be going home for the holidays… but will be working with the homeless here in LA …. very grateful for that ;o)

I wish you all the BEST!

    Nancy

    1. I just bought another 5 copies on barnes n noble- does that count? I love your first book (sychophantic yes I know, but it’s true). With shipping in all it’s going to cost over $110 to get sent to the uk but worth every penny, or cent as you guys say! Some people will get extra special presents.

Question- how do I get the deal for 5 books, I didn’t see the eventbrite link on the net while on the phone!

      Cheers Tim, xx

  134. Tim,

First of all this is a great promotion and I hope you knock off Guiness next week. I’m glad we all could be a part of it.

I placed my order for 3 books and uploaded my screenshot to you on December 9. I read through the comments and didn’t see when the digital goods would be sent. I haven’t had received anything or in my spam folder. Will everything be mailed including digital goods on the 14th or 15th?

    Thanks

    1. You don’t have to publish my comment, I just read Copies of the new book will all ship starting 12/14. All bonuses will be delivered the week of 12/14 (digital) or the week of 12/21 (non-book physical goods).

  135. Hey Tim,

Love the promotion! Ordered 30 of your much anticipated books and will be looking forward to the party here in NYC! Quick question though…where do we send the information on which weight amounts we want for the kettlebells or what size we want for the jeans?

    See You At The Greenhouse!

    Alex

  136. Tim,

Read the book and absolutely loved it. THANK YOU for the signed copy. Yes, I know I should only read 150 pages or so but I’m one of those strange people that start on page 1 and don’t quit til the last one.

I lost a bit over 30 pounds by following the low carb diet in 2 months. Can not wait to see how it will work in conjunction with ice water and cold showers. Dumb question: I cycle a lot and was wondering if you think it would make a difference wearing just a regular cycling jersey vs. under armor plus a thick winter jerseys for fat burning or does it create health risks in that it’s to cold?

RE: Kettle Bells, would you recommend them even if people have knee problems?

Is the 5 book deal available if I buy 2 copies on B&N and 3 at Amazon? How would I submit the paperwork if yes?

Am writing a review for our cycling site, is it okay to give some short excerpts or explain methods you are recommending in the book? Would also love to do a short interview maybe via email if you have a chance.

If you are ever coming to Fort Worth/Arlington let me know and I would love to buy you a Bier or three! (that’s why I need the diet :o))

    Vielen Dank,

    Dieter

  137. Tim,

I really would like to buy your book, but I live outside of US and HopShopGo rates are ridiculously high. They want more than $63 for shipping (Amazon less than $8, Barnes and Noble less than $13) to my location.

It would be cheaper for me to buy the book and ship it to random address in US and than buy ebook version.

But I would be more than happy if I could donate the book.

So can you help some how? (by e.g. giving PO box address for shipping)

    Thanks,

    Paul

  138. Hi Tim,

    Thanks for the prize giveaway.

I was going to buy your books to my partner for Christmas anyway and I am glad I can help you end the domination of The Guiness Book of World Records. Best of luck with that.

She loves signed books, so thanks for the B/N link too.

Just one question: I leave in Australia and have ordered through HopShopGo. I only have their receipt and not the BN one. Should I attach this order receipt or will I get one from Barnes and Noble?

You have been a real inspiration (muse on the way and being an ‘expert’ tips from 4HWW are great too). I hope you’ll also be an inspiration to my girlfriend.

  139. Hey Tim,

Your one Zany dude, and I admire that! I have ordered your new book, and plan on putting it to the test! I will be beginning with losing 20lbs in 30 days, and will blog about my results on a daily basis. The Four Hour Work Week was a great inspiration to me as I took the dive from my job as a software engineer, into a life of travel, public speaking, and adventure. I look forward to seeing the impact that “The Four Hour Body” will make on society!

    God Bless,

    Aaron Trank

  140. Hey Tim,

    Congrats again!

Quick question. You may have answered this already, but would someone still be able to get your signed copies (depending of availability) if they purchase the 5 or more book package? I pre-ordered some signed copies several months back but I would like to order a few more for gifts and still take advantage of your bonuses!

    Cheers!

    Erwin

  141. COMMENTS

    Hello Tim,

What a promotion. Really cool. It’s so cool I ended up forgetting everything to focus on this.

I tried different ways to promote

    1) online: preselling books that I’ve purchased (I got the Sex Machine and Muses package)

    2) online: offering one of my products (web dev) on a 1-day only promo (as much as 50% discount) to provide me cash flow to purchase another Sex Machine and Muses package

(Send me separate email so I can send you the links to the two above.)

The thing is your promotion runs on a December weekend, which means Filipinos are out of their homes and offices doing Christmas shoppping in malls and shopping centers (We have a shopping mentality: everyone and everything are in countless malls mostly located in a small area that is Metro Manila). I’d love to sell your book on the streets and shopping centers a la-Apprentice, but it wouldn’t be very effective and efficient.

So I thought of holding a running event. (Disclaimer: I haven’t done this yet, but I’m thinking this is how I could sell the 30 books I bought.)

Running is the “in” thing in Manila these days. Weekend warriors make a career joining these running events. Various products and magazines have sprouted overnight to cater to this industry.

The following is a list of possibilities that we can do.

We can include 4-H Body as one of the freebies from sponsors as participants register, or as one of the prizes of finishers or winners. We can also hand a custom-made singlet / jersey with 4-H Body design upon registration.

We can get sponsors, magazines (mens health, as well as mma and ufc mags as some mma peeps also run in these events), and advertising in the mix to promote the book.

If no one gets the Superhuman Showcase #3 (running with Marshall Ulrich), we can award that as competition first prize, or as grand prize in a raffle.

Then if you choose me to be a winner, I’d like to win Superhuman Showcase #1 (learning and hanging out with Tim Ferriss). But instead of spending time in San Francisco, you can come here to appear at the running event. I guess hanging out here in the Philippines can really be cheaper. And yes, it’s a chance for you to visit the land of beaches, friendly and hospitable people, yummy food, fantastic dive spots, and hardworking virtual assistants.

Obviously, this won’t get you more book purchases for 12/14. But this is for next time. Lots of upside. Game?

  142. CONTEST

Oops, I made the mistake of putting COMMENTS instead of CONTEST in the post above. Sorry for the mistake and the repost folks 🙂

  143. CONTEST

With limited time to enter this contest, I’ve put the wheels in motion but will probably not know the outcome immediately.

I pitched an idea to the EVP of Programming at HSN (Home Shopping Network) to have a one-day event on our air and website featuring a special configuration including both books as our Today’s Special. Other brands on the day would include Tony Little, inventor Joy Mangano, Lisa Price (who developed the Carol’s Daughter brand of bath and body products out of her kitchen in Harlem) and the winners of HSN’s recent reality show competition TLC’s Homemade Millionaire.

Today’s Special are the biggest volume item on the day, airing around 8 times in 24 hours. Quantities could hit 50,000. For this to happen, the EVP (who I report to indirectly) would have to really buy into the idea. As I said, I know he’s a fan of Tim’s. There would need to be an agreement between HSN and Tim, and Tim would need to come to HSN to be the on-air guest. The pricing and configuration would need to be compelling for our customers.

Alternately, I suggested that we feature the book/configuration as an exclusive “online only” TS, positioning it as a great gift for the holidays. This could be accomplished much easier, but would lack the on-air component with Tim as a guest.

Notes: One recent brand sold 60,000 units in 6 hours. Another brand sold $1 million in product in just 4 hours. Another did $4.5 million in 16 hours. These are just the easily available stats from recent news releases.

If Tim’s interested, I can make an introduction.

  144. Received my signed copy of the book this week from the Eben interview last year from the promotion of the revised 4HWW.

This book is AWESOME! I have been reading it everyday since I received it. The ab exercises are awesome. On leg night the other night, I implemented the 5/5 cadence on squats and did a superset with leg extensions using the same cadence. Same for the stiff leg dead lift/leg curl sets. Going to buy my stuff for the T Handle today. Implementing the icebaths…not looking forward to that.

Thanks so much for this book and being a human guinea pig!

  145. The Uberman: Full body testing tim i love to see a blog post about this in the future. im always interested in this but at this time 10k books is a little out of my range lol.

  146. When I first saw the 30 books offer I was pretty pumped – an awesome deal, and it included a few things I wanted anyway, making it even sweeter. Then I hesitated and decided to think it over for a while. I mean, it’s still almost $500!

But then it hit me: Just in the “Reversing Permanent Injuries” chapter, learning from Tim’s experience has easily saved me over $480 in wasted medical costs! That did it, I immediately ordered my 30 copies! 🙂

  147. Tim,

You put “This offer is only available to those with shipping addresses in the United States” for the physical bonuses, but not for the others.

Does this mean that offers with only non-physical bonuses will apply to purchases shipped to non-US addresses, or is a US shipped book mandatory for all offers, as implied in the important notes?

Hoping to avoid spending more than 2x cost of book on shipping by not using hopshopgo, if possible.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    1. Hi Chris,

Thanks for the comment. If you order any package, we will deliver digital goods to you wherever you are (via email), but we can only ship physical products to US addresses. If you don’t care about the physical bonuses, and just want the books, don’t worry about HopShopGo.

      Thanks again!

      Tim

  148. Hey Tim,

great idea and execution of your book promo! I read a comment above about making this promotion EPIC… The video content you already have or can crank out in short order can already be put out on national TV with the rest of the infomercials currently floating out there (i.e., p90x, etc.)…

Did you know google can make that available to you at a reasonable price? Here’s a description from their website:

Google TV Ads is an online marketplace that makes it easy for anyone to buy and measure national cable television advertising. Using the familiar Adwords interface, you can launch a television campaign in minutes.

    see link:

    http://www.google.com/adwords/tvads/

If time is crucial, this may be the easiest/fastest way to get on the “as seen on tv” circuit. of course, if you have time for a more elaborate plan/strategy, i look forward to seeing that executed!

Anyway, thanks for sharing all that you do… it’s inspirational/motivational and a kick to see you demolish the status quo.

    Happy Holidays!

  149. Hi Tim,

Do you know the approximate weight of the bonuses for Sex Machine and Muses (Value: $1,623)? I have to get it sent to HopShopGo and am debating to see if that is worth my while in terms of shipping costs. The kettlebell has me especially worried!

    Thanks!

    martin

  150. Hey Tim, I’m slightly confused, the timer on here indicates this promo ends at midnight pacific time, but the eventbrite pages says midnight eastern. When does it actually end?

    *CONTEST*

Also, I wanted to let you know my 10k Google Ads for your book got over 20,000 impressions, and I’m working on updating them to be more relevant with better keywords. I’d really love to hear your feedback if you got a chance to read my post earlier.

    -Roger

  151. Darn! I just checked my bank account and I will have to pass on the “3000 book” ~ “hard sell” or was that “30” books. Nice Video.

When this contest went LIVE, I originally thought about buying “30” books, but couldn’t commit myself to that many books knowing I would end up selling them to recoup my cash.

I did buy “5” in October and “5” in December. My total-to-date is “10” (For some reason, I don’t believe we have seen the end of the craziness.)

This book launch is very inspiring (and so are you).

    Goodluck & Thank You!

    Matt

    1. Hey Tim,

Love the promotion. I had an issue with the screen shot upload. And now the wufoo site shows the form as unavailable for viewing by the public. Suggestions?

      Thanks!

  152. I just ordered the book and I tried to attach the screenshot, but it didn’t work. I smimmed through the comments to see if this has been a problem and hadn’t found anything.

    Can I email it?

  153. Tim,

Does the first come first served concept apply to the one book offer? I just placed my order ( before the deadline) on the B&N website and when I clicked the wufoo link it said it was closed to the public. I was going to submit my receipt and claim my free bonuses. Any advice?

    1. Quote Alberto:

“I just placed my order ( before the deadline) on the B&N website and when I clicked the wufoo link it said it was closed to the public. I was going to submit my receipt and claim my free bonuses.”

      Same issue here.

The counter still says there are 2 hours left…

      Any ideas?

    2. I had the same problem. Even made a Wufoo account to see if that was the problem, but no such luck. Is there any recourse for us 11th-hour buyers?

  154. Tim,

I just want to thank you for helping me realize I wasn’t crazy. You have given people permission to explore their dreams and not be stuck in a 9-5. Most people are dead inside and cannot relate to people who want to truly live. Thank you so much, you are a true inspiration for all.

  155. Hi Tim,

The blog countdown clock seems synced to my CT zone but the Eventbrite and fill out the form links seems to be set to ET. Post just mentioned Sunday at midnight as the endtime…oh well 🙂

    All the best,

    Matt

  156. I cannot believe I just impulse bought 30 copies of your book. LMAO! I hope this will be the greatest impulse buy of all time! At least the $480 is going toward a credit card target to get a massive airline mile bonus too 🙂

  157. Tim,

UNABLE TO FILL OUT THE FORM FOR THE GIVEAWAY

Ordered 1 book at 11:59 PM.

I have my amazon invoice but the “fill out this form” link to WOFOO says “This form cannot be viewed by the public.”

    Will await further instructions:)

A heartfelt thank you for all you have done, keep it up and be encouraged you are an inspiration.

Houstoun( Eunhee’s husband who ordered the book.)

    Order Placed: December 12, 2010

Amazon.com order number: (will fill in later)

1 of: The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman, Timothy Ferriss

    Condition: New

    Sold by: Amazon.com, LLC $14.51

    1. Tim,

WUFOO is fixed. Very fast thank you.

“Success! Thanks for filling out the form! The bonuses will be sent to you via email in the coming week, so be on the lookout for a message from Tim Ferriss.”

Looking forward to the bonuses but cannot wait for the book.

      Houstoun:)

  158. Was it supposed to end Eastern time? Cause the clock still says I have an hour and a half. I was just about to buy 5 more books!

  159. Ok there is about an hour and a half left before the promotion is over. I just looked to see what the form looked like that I had to fill out when you buy a book and for some reason it is saying the public is not allowed to see the form. What am I missing?

  160. Tim,

I too was not able to fill out the wufoo form after purchasing the book on B&N. Please advise.

I’m so looking forward to the new book.

    Thank you for the inspiration.

    Luke

  161. Hi Tim & Staff,

I placed my “Land Rush” order a few minutes ago, a little more than an hour before offer expiration. However, the “submit form” page for the receipt states “this page is not available to the public”. I can offer confirm my offer. Any help with this? When will this issue be resolved so I can process my “Land Rush” bonus? Thank you.

    Rob

  162. Tim,

Book looks incredible. It will make my plane ride to Paris in 7 days more entertaining than airline TV.

Any suggestions in Paris ‘off the beaten path’?

Also let us know how we can submit our claim forms for those who purchased before the deadline but were unable to access to various claim sites…

    Cheers,

    Mike

  163. Hiya Tim! I really wanted to do the 10 book deal but didn’t realize the eventbrite tickets ended at 11:55 PM EST (or did they just sell out?) I’m on PST and the clock on the blog is still ticking… I tried to get the 3 deal and had the same problem as Alberto above with the wufoo link. Would like to buy 10 but will settle for 3, IF those are all sold out I’ll go for 1… I guess… c’mon Tim help me help you 🙂

      1. I’m not sure if the offers have expired, but it appears that the WuFoo site is unavailable.

The offers would be great, but I’m looking forward to the book. Sure (like the 4HWW) it will be well worth the value in its own right.

I’ll keep the confirmation info just in case, but good luck on the book launch.

  164. CONTEST

    ————–

    Hi Tim,

I got wind of this Friday, but we had a scheduled ski run Saturday and just got back. I did what I could in 59 minutes, just the basics. Here’s the data:

    Facebook post: 679 friends

    Twitter message: 214 followers

Dugg every 4 Hour Body link I could find, as well as the 2 Reddit links. Dugg links are currently at between 7 and 3 Diggs right now.

    –IMPORTANT–

*If everyone reading this blog went to this Digg link: http://digg.com/news/sports/the_4_hour_body_by_tim_ferriss_official_site and Dugg Tim’s book, we could easily get this ranked. Tweet it out, peeps.

All the best, Tim. Hopefully I can be more of a help later. Cheers.

  165. Tim,

Thanks very much for the extension! Congrats on selling out the 30 book packages! I got my package of 5 plus my package of 3 from the other day…so I’m all set. 🙂 Thanks again!

All the best for this week ahead!

    Matt

  166. Hello,

I ordered a copy of the book and filled out the form but still not received the bonuses yet. I just wanted to check if this was normal. Thank you,

PS: keep it up, you’re a true inspiration !

  167. Hi Tim,

I’ve been a big fan of yours for years and I recommend your work to just about anyone who will listen. Can’t wait to dive into the new book!

Anyways, the morning that this promotion started (12/9) I submitted my receipt for 3 books via the Wufoo form. It gave me a confirmation screen so I assumed it went through, but I just checked my email again (batch processing it, as per your previous advice) and I never received a confirmation email from you for the form submit.

Were emails sent out as a confirmation that you received the form? If so, then could somebody please email me. I can send another receipt screenshot if need be.

    Thanks!

    Ron

  168. Tim,

I bought the book in the wee wee hours (literally) of Sunday morning and now I cannot access the wufoo site to fill out the form. I get this message “This form cannot be viewed by the public.”

Is this going to be fixed?

    Thanks, Don

  169. Tim,

I couldn’t attach the receipt until I got back to my office this morning and it didn’t let me see the form anymore. I re-read your instructions and understand your 72-hr deadline. If there’s anyway you can make an exception, I’d really appreciate it. If not, I just wanted to let you know that I bought the book regardless.

    Thanks,

    Diego

  170. Hi Tim,

I placed my book order while there were still hours showing on the countdown clock, but the bonus form was not functional. Reading the comments showed others with the same situation. I thought I would check again this morning, but it is still the same story with the form.

Can you help with this? I’m looking forward to applying info from the new book, and I’d like to be able to utilize the bonus materials as well. Thanks.

  171. Hey Tim

So I wanted to buy one of the book packages, but traveling did not allowed, me to do so.

I missed the 48Hr offer, and wondering if you will be offering an extention to buy more books with the great stuff included.

Anyway, I an in NY, and will be going to the greenhouse and and celebrate with you.

See you there, and hope the best for your book.

    Francisco

  172. Hi Tim,

I bought the Four Hour Body this morning as part of your giveaway but when I tried to print the form it gave me the message “This Form Cannot Be Viewed By The Public”. The email said the offer expired in 72 hours, but I received the email not quite three days ago? ( technically the email is stamped that I received it at 10:45am on Friday and I placed my order by 10:40 Monday morning) Can you let me know why it expired earlier or how if I can still qualify?

Thanks and will be at your book launch party tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

  173. Hi, Tim

It was a great promotional event. I tried my best to promote it as best I could and I hope it helped you break that record in some small way.

Now that it’s over, any thoughts about the big promotion ? (positive or negative)

Do you think the “Land Rush” event yield enough results ? if not, why so ?

    Are bigger promotions better ?

Thanks for the event. it was fun

  174. Hey Tim,

Thanks for fixing the “Wufoo Form offer” last night after it was down for a while. I was able to finally submit the screen shot of the receipt after you extended the wufoo offer to last until the end of the “Land Rush” expiration.

Not sure if I was supposed to receive an e-mail confirmation or not. I imagine later in the week some e-mail will be sent or an announcement posted on the blog regarding the bonuses will be posted.

Good luck on the new book release. Awesome marketing as always. I’m sure it will be a big hit!

    Rob

  175. Tim,

Thanks for doing this offer! I’m in the same boat as Ron above, though; I pre-ordered three books, submitted the receipt through the form presented, and I got the confirmation screen, but I’ve received no email confirmation.

Did email confirmations go out? I just want to make sure I got everything in on time.

  176. Hi Tim

I can’t believe it……I missed the 48 hour promotion!. I was away for the weekend and of course you do not send emails……………………

I had already preorded the book from Amazon so I will get a copy soon. The deal was so good though, I’m sad.

AND well done, you are amazing and a source of fabulous info such as the link to Hop Shop and Go will now allow me to access great Stuff from the US. Thanks and continuing success to you.

  177. Fantastic idea Tim!

… I was away this weekend and just saw the promo email; cant believe I missed it (I’ll have to get a 1 hr call another way), but am very excited for the read in any event–have some self-experimentation to do…Thanks Tim!

    James

  178. oops I guess I was too late. I pre-ordered 2 books before you had this promotion. I am really looking forward to this book, but it would have been nice to get the bonuses.

  179. Just wanted to take the time to let you know that I am telling everyone about this and plan on buying multiple copies for Christmas presents as well as finally updating my 4hr Work Week tomorrow. Maybe not enough to qualify for the above prizes but hopefully enough to impact a few lives of people who need a change. Thanks Tim…your work is beyond monetary value.

    – Christopher

  180. Tim,

I realize trying to get your attention is difficult because everyone is trying so this will be my first of many attempts.

To start, I’ve got a very close relative on the Forbes 400. I’m not saying that for any other reason than to let you know, that if I think it’s necessary to call her to borrow some money I will.

Having said that, your 48 Hour Giveaway was genius. Unfortunately, I missed it. Your Uberman… sounds amazing… I bet you got tons of emails from people trying to strike deals and figure out if anyone had actually done it. I’m proposing a twist if you’re game. If I can raise the $160,000 and buy your books, my buddy Adam and I want to take the profits, and travel with you, to a third world country and spend 2 weeks or however long we decide it will take to save a village or some poor community. Let’s build something useful or find clean water. Our passion is helping others and we’re currently building a start-up right now (thanks to 4HWW) in hopes we can generate enough monthly income to continue to travel the world and help those who didn’t get the same start we did in life.

Maybe this could help jump start things or at least, be something way different than your readers have ever suggested to you. We promise if we can pull it off, we won’t spend the time with you asking you all the questions you’re used to getting… we’re pretty down to earth. Plus, it’s our 2011 goal to buy you a beer and high five you so this would be killing a couple birds with a big stone. Let’s do this!

    1. I just read through the entire post and comments again, and am a little disappointed I didn’t check back earlier (or read more carefully!). I am in Canada and didn’t realize you had to purchase through hopshopgo in order to qualify. So I assuming that’s why I havn’t heard anything yet! lol

Disappointed I won’t get the bonuses! But I just finished reading Ryan Holiday’s guest post about Stoicism; so this gives me an opportunity to practice the art of attention to details 😉

      1. Hey I’m also from Canada, and didn’t order through hopshopgo, I simply followed the instructions and ordered through amazon. I haven’t heard anything in terms of a response and I’m worried that I’m going to miss out on these bonuses. I however only ordered one book, and all of my bonus items are digital… so i don’t see why my country makes a difference.. I filled out the form and provided a screenshot of my receipt..

I’d like to hope that Tim would honor to those that got shuffled around with the sign up process. or at least personally, because i don’t want to miss out on these bonus materials

  181. Hey Tim,

By the way, just a heads up.

Myself and a couple of my friends purchased your 4HB book on a related offer from Noah at APPSUMO.

Some of their add-ons and bonus offers were not delivered under the same terms described during pre-purchase. Also, they did not grant referrals credits, as promised, after e-mailing their offer to others who purchased your book in conjunction with their offer.

Their customer service was tardy and dismissive of issues raised after the fact and never resolved them. I hope they at least ship the book orders in a timely manner.

Good to keep in mind when working closely with others cross marketing your book and not living up to promises and claims on their site. Just FYI.

    Thanks,

    Pete

      1. Thanks for the response Tim. You followed through!

Noah sent an e-mail last night offering to remedy the situation after you interceded. He and AppSumo were giving us the run around and stopped replying to our inquiry until you and the 4HB followed up.

Always good to keep the cross-marketers and affiliates sharp and on their toes regarding good customer service, online promo offer/bonus follow through and referral or affiliate commissions.

I’ll respond to them and see if they do what they they again committed to doing and delivering.

Good luck and great success on the book launch!

        Pete

  182. Hey Tim,

I am waiting expectantly for my copy of the book. I will be putting your methods to the test and vlogging about my results via youtube and my website set up just for that. I am 5’10’’, weigh about 190lbs, have about 14% body fat, and spend most of my day sitting… my life is quite sedentary at the moment. I use to be a gym junkie and was in to body building for a while, but that is in the distant past. As I will be putting your book to the test I thought I would ask for your input. What part of your book would you recommend implementing first?

    Thanks and God Bless,

    Aaron Trank

  183. Super Tim!

Bought a few books yesterday for self, hubby & sibs. Nothing better to give loved ones than a big dish of insight on fitness & health with a side order of satiated curiosities that I just know your book is going to deliver. Can’t wait to dig in! But I ask you Tim, where are my daily domestic walk-about cardio challenges going to be found after the San Francisco streets and urban park trails around my 4th floor Ashbury Heights apartment begin to feel like anthills? Ha! Wishing you the best with your launch! And if you’re ever hill-climbing in my hood during your meatless days, gourmet vegan eats are happy to find their way to you!

  184. What about all of us who pre-ordered the book back in Sept. but did not see this over the weekend? Any opportunities for us to get in on the bonuses?

  185. Can’t wait any longer =S!!! I want the book to be delivered to my Kindle PC ASAP!!!! I just want to read every word of it…

It’s sad I couldn’t participate in this thing… however…. I don’t think you would make it international and deliver the books to…. let say….. Mexico ( where I live ) I hope you plan on doing more contests like this on the future and probably make them like international or something… it would be nice to receive all that stuff you where giving…. it seemed…. interesting.

  186. Hey Tim! Pre-ordered & can’t wait to get ahold of your book

I submitted my receipt albeit it was via Amazon.ca. Anyway that I could still get the digital copies of 4-hour workweek/slow-carb cookbook? I purchased your four-hour work week too; but it’ll be more handy to have both a digital and physical copy.

  187. Hey Tim & Staff,

Will the 4 Hour Body be available through audio download? For example through a place like audible.com so I can listen to it on my iPod.

I like to have both the hard copy and audio version of my favorite books. Sometimes even the e-book as well. If 4HB is anywhere near as good as the 4HWW then it will join the club.

I realize it’s on CD but I was wondering if it would be available soon in an easy to download format. Please advise. Thank you.

    Regards,

    Strategic Equity

  188. Tim!

I’m here in the Philippines. ordered the hardcover i think last october, though I know the hardcover is gonna be delivered on my Birthday in January (I brought this as a present lol), based on your promo Fundamentals: Buy 1 book (Cost $16, Bonuses $140) I’m looking forward in my email to see the Kindle version.

PS. your vid rocks. I was wondering for weeks now that once I got the kindle version on my email, i’ll make my own vid documentary (even if its not-so-sophisticated quality) based on the experiments on this book, and send it to you first (like a fan vid lol), something like a Testimonial vid or whatever, so you can check it out First hand before I post it somewhere..

And if it turns out not so perfect , forgive me in advance, but im not gonna ask for your permission.. Im just letting you know what im about to do to prove that this book delivers result 🙂

  189. Tim, I ordered and submitted the form within the first hour of the promotion and still have not received the bonus offers yet. I was wondering if this is normal. Thanks in advance.

  190. What is the value to the vendors? If the book sells for full retail it is $27.00 at 30 books that is $810 after the publisher gets their cut hardly enough to kick back to the product companies so they must be giving them away as promotion costs.

Example sunglasses assuming a double and double to retail at $290 their cost for 100 shades would be $7250! They would have to then sell at 20% net profit about $36K to new customers or repeat business.

Who else has ideas on how this makes sense to the companies offering up freebies?

I love the idea just trying to understand how to explain the value to potential vendors.

  191. Hi,

I hope it’s ok to write here about the book itself. I care for my weight for years in order to stay in the same weight class in TKD. But since a few month I stick to your proposed low-carb high protein diet. Combined with Coffee, Cold Shower, exeption day, mini-pre-binge-workout alone (I did those accidentially anyway 🙂 ) my weight reacts like crazy. I can loose up to a pound a day (till a certain minimum off course) and after the exeption day I gain about a pound (maybe only water). I can litteraly hit the weight I want. I can go from the sub 140 pound class to a well trained over 160 pound class in no time. Your methods really rock !

As a physicist I like the high amount of scientific information. Tiny critique: The casual stories (e.g. Backstage at the concert) seem uneccessary and are not the kind of stuff I want to read. But maybe this is just the american style, which is somtimes awesome and I really enjoy in Feynman Lectures.

  192. Congratulations on your second launch of an amazing book!

I am looking forward to the digital copy (as well as the hardcover I ordered), cook book and seminar.

    I await with bells on!

When do we lucky people have access to such brilliance?

  193. Tim,

I realize that the promotion is over, but I just wanted to wish you luck. I met you last night at the book launch party. It was a great bash. I was the one who lent you the copy of “The 4 Hour Body” to take a picture with. Anyway, I hope you smack this one off the planet. You need to put Guiness in its’ place.

    Jim

  194. Hey Tim,

I bought one hardcover copy over the weekend and sent in a copy of my receipt with the form. I have not yet received the bonuses. Is this normal? I’m worried I might have typed in my e-mail incorrectly. How can I verify? Thanks.

  195. Did anyone get ramit’s course? I bought a book and got an email with the 4hww pdf and cookbook, but nothing on “Find your First Profitable Idea”.

  196. Hi Tim

I have to say when it comes to Chutzpah, you have cornered the market. I could only afford to buy three books. I am dying of curiosity as to how your promotion went. For those of us who follow you religiously, we need to know !!!

    How did you do?

How many books did you sell????

By the way, thanks for placing the videos on coming up with a muse. All of these people had a a few bucks to start with. Has anyone started a muse with under $1000. and now doing $25,000. plus per month?

  197. Hello,

I received the Digital copy of ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’ and the Slow-Carb Cookbook. Thank you very much ! I was wondering when I am supposed to receive the “Find Your First Profitable Idea” with Ramit Sethi (which I am very interested in). Should I wait longer or should I do something particular ?

    Thank you.

    Best regards

  198. I signed up for the 1 book deal when it was out, but I only got the 4 hr workweek and slow carb diet ebooks… where is my“Find Your First Profitable Idea” with Ramit Sethi?

  199. Hi…I am bummed…I ordered the book and was not clear on how to get the promos…now I see I was supposed to fill out a form….is it too late?

  200. Tim – is it possible to get the slow-carb cook book? I saw that you offered it to people who bought the book and it costs around 20.00 but i would like to just buy a copy if i could.

    Thanks.

  201. I purchased one book and I have received the “Find Your First Profitable Idea” from Ramit, but have NOT gotten my Digital copy of ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’ and the Slow-Carb Cookbook. How do I get these items?

Thanks for the stuff, the new book just came over the weekend – reading as fast as I can!

  202. Hey Tim,

Loving the book so far. Got the advanced signed copy and just devouring it. About 200-300 pages in. I ordered the 5 books during the Land Rush and have not heard any word from Evernote or Dailyburn as of yet for the subscriptions. Just wondering if this is to be expected and I should probably hear from them after the holidays, as I understand A LOT of people wanted to get in on the incredible action of getting the books. I have received all other digital material included with the 5 book package and I believe 1 of the physical packages has been sent.

Lastly when should we expect to see the book orders come in and have you already had the 1 hour Q&A Conference call included with the packages?

Thanks and have an Incredible and Merry Christmas.

    Cam

P.S. – Are there any pictures up from the launch party at the Greenhouse Club?

  203. Hi Tim,

I ordered 5 books from Canada before the changes on the site were made. I still haven’t received my books, so getting kinda worried?

Is there someone I can contact to get an update on my order? (Order ID: 4HBODY1152)

I did get a link where I could track my order, but the link doesn’t work…stuck and not sure who I can contact to get help…

    Thanks!!!

    Rup Jolly

  204. Tim, Congrats on NYT #1. Please tell me that there has been some technical difficulties with getting the bonus items out. I have yet to receive any follow after completing the initial receipt submission within the designated time.

    1. Hi Brian,

Thank you for your comment. There have been some tech difficulties, mostly with the digital delivery, surprisingly, but we’re getting them out to the remaining few. I’ll also send your comment to my assistant, Charlie.

      More soon!

      Tim

      1. Holy Frijoles! How is possible to get a response in less time then

it took me to open the box from Amazon that The 4 Hour Body arrived in. It’s a Christmas miracle. Now I have to purchase a few more copies to keep you on top of NYT Bestsellers. Congrats again to you and your team. Really, a true Christmas miracle.

      2. Thanks, so much Tim for doing all of this for everyone. I have received my digital copy of everything and loving them, but I have had no word on any of physical items. The main one being the 5 books (The Harajuku Package) themselves have not arrived. This has mostly to do with the fact that I live in Canada I’m sure as is usual the reason. Because it seems that having things shipped from the US is like sending something to a far off alien world. Something I have come to live with lol and it makes sense most of the time as the majority of retailers (excluding the big guns like amazon or apple) don’t often ship to Canada. It is most likely just another technical difficulty which is causing the delay of deliveries or notice and I am cool with the wait. Just wanted to hear what the status was or if there is anyway to know what has been sent and where it is like the copies of the books.

Thanks again and congrats on hitting #1 NYT, knew you would 🙂

  205. Holy frijoles! How is it possible to get a response in less time then it took to open the box that The 4 Hour Body came in from Amazon. Now I have to go out and purchase a few more copies to keep you on the NYT list. It’s a true Christmas miracle!!! Congrats again to you and your team! No lie, a true Christmas miracle.

  206. Hi Tim, congratulations for the book.

I have not received the “Find Your First Profitable Idea” with Ramit Sethi

    Will I receive this?

    Thank you & regards

  207. How do I get my hands on this mysterious “slow-carb cookbook”? I’m getting dominated by my inability to find a slow-carb specific cookbook.

    Cheers,

    Danny

  208. Hey Tim-

Sorry to contact you here so late but i haven’t been able to receive the bonus material. I purchased 4 hour body from amazon on 12/10/10 and uploaded the receipt to the form you provided. I never received any of the bonus material and was wondering if its still possible to get these?

I love your work and have purchased multiple copies of both books to give to my family and friends over the past couple years. 4HWW is a perfect graduation gift, by the way!

Thanks and keep up the good work!!

    -Tyler

  209. Link exchange is nothing else however it is simply placing the other person’s weblog link on your page at suitable place and other person will also do similar in support of you.|

  210. Tim…two quick questions:

    1) Did you have someone manually reviewing those form submissions for receipts on Wufoo, or did you just kind of “trust” and an autoreply or thank you page with the bonuses?

    2) Have you written anywhere how exactly you structured the Eventbrite program for bigger giveaways? Tough for me to elucidate now that event has ended. Happy to pay for your time to hop on the horn about it if you have 5 minutes.

  211. My friend wants to help someone publish a book so o was referring you, Tim. Had no idea you went this balls to the wall with it. Really curious what all out of this massive list you ended up having to commit yourself to. For example, did you have a random person stay with you in sf for two days? Did the miss India trip happen? Did you talk to someone on Skype for an hour? If so, what type of discussion? Just wondering. It’s fuckin brilliant tho. Notably it worked.

    Best regards,

    Lucy
