The Land Rush: 48 Hours to Claim $4,000,000 in Prizes

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROMOTION IS OVER. THANKS!

Have you ever gone on safari in Africa?

Been trained by world champions?

Crossed the Atlantic on a 119-foot schooner?

Taken a private tour of an Indian archipelago, complete with tigers, crocodiles, and… Miss India?

Now you can. Or… if you simply want thousands of dollars of cutting-edge gadgets, you can have those, too.

Welcome to “The Land Rush,” intended to be the largest book promotion in history…

The goal of this post is to offer the prizes of a lifetime, and to help The 4-Hour Body beat The Guinness Book of World Records on The New York Times bestseller list. Every package is worth at least twice the cost of the books, often up to 10x. More than $4,000,000 in prizes are up for grabs.

Every year, Guinness owns the NY Times list the week of 12/14. This year, I want that to change.

This is THE promotion for the book, and it will not be repeated. Pub day will not offer anything better. My World Series starts now.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

– For the NY Times, the book bonuses can only apply to HARDCOVER copies shipped to US addresses. Sorry!

– Copies of the new book will all ship starting 12/14. All bonuses will be delivered the week of 12/14 (digital) or the week of 12/21 (non-book physical goods).

– For the Barnes and Noble signed copies, it says “Signed Edition” on the “Overview” tab of the page.

– If you don’t need all of the books you buy, I am happy to donate the remainder to a worthwhile organization (library, school, company, event, etc.) on your behalf.

This giveaway lasts exactly 48 hours and ends at midnight on Sunday. It’s strictly first come, first served, and “limited to 5 spots” means the sixth person doesn’t get it.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROMOTION AND THE CONTEST ARE OVER. THANKS!

I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together. Grab what you can!

Ready? Set? Go.

Holy Moly! This is the most amazing book promotion I’ve ever seen.

But umm… do people really buy 10,000 copies of a book? I guess maybe a corporation or something or a non-profit that could give them away?

Really cool idea TIm.

Tim are these signed books, a new bunch? How do you know if you’re buying the signed editions at BnN? I’ll buy some more copies if they are available.

Also will be cool in a couple years looking back on the book, how / if your thinking would have changed on the topics as you keep tweaking and experimenting and maybe release book two.

Tim, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed here. When you say a magazine subscription is worth $360, it raised an eyebrow for me. The subscription is available directly through the publisher for $29.95 (http://www.cathletics.com/zen/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8&zenid=feff0e492ffa0372540611ff3d9c00e2).

I think this is a really interesting and outside the box marketing scheme, but that sort of dishonesty really disappoints me and makes me question the value of every other package. I’d love to hear why you did this, because maybe I’m missing something.

Hi Joe,

It’s not dishonesty — it’s a mistake. I had my assistant add up the totals, and wires got crossed somehow. I’ll get it fixed ASAP. There’s no reason I’d lie about something so easy to look up, and so likely to be looked up. It’ll be done.

Sorry!

OK, I checked on this and all is fixed. Here’s what happened: we received an email describing it as “$30 a month” and that’s how the mistake was made. It’s now correctly listed as $30/year. Honest mistake and now fixed.

Still pretty sick packages 🙂

I bought a book the first time around, signed copy. Then recently got an email saying they couldn’t ship the book because of a billing issue. I had 3 days to correct. Odd because they don’t bill until it ships, right? Well, I got that taken care of, but I don’t see “signed” in the order overview. Do I need to call them, or assume everything’s ok? Please don’t use Barnes & Noble again! It was so difficult to call them during their operating hours, and they don’t take email support.

Hi Jeffrey,

@Jeffrey : I’m not too impressed with B&N’s order processing either. I had to follow these steps to double-check that it was a signed edition after the fact:

1. go to bn.com/orderstatus

2. put in your email and password (or email and order number)

3. go to the Order Details page

4. under Description, click on the title of the book

5. scroll down to Product Details on the Overview tab.

6. one of the bullet points should say “Edition Description: Signed Edition”

Hope this helps!

Phenomenal promotion, Tim. You have totally raised the bar on average or “cheesy” book launch campaigns that have plagued the Internet for years, and that I have been apart of myself. Free eBooks and eCourses don’t cut the mustard anymore, and they haven’t for years. People want absurd value and mind-altering experiences – not just a trip, but a tour to and Indian archipelago with Miss India or crossing the Atlantic on a 119-foot schooner. Epic!

Tim,

Yesterday I read the 4HB chapter about doubling testosterone. I WAS IN HYSTERICS!! I’m literally laughing to myself right now at the memory of reading it. Good shit man! Good shit!

I am a bit surprised that you didn’t include anything in the 4HB about male multiple orgasm, or female ejaculation. You have surely researched these, given your curiosity and friendship with Tallulah. (Will there be any future content about them?)

Also, you must be aware of this, but the links in the book are not currently working (ex: http://www.fourhourbody.com/munger gives me a 404 error).

If this promotion is successful, and I’m sure it will be, will your next book be about marketing (haha)?

I’m sure you’ll do the same for me if I ever publish a book, right? (no really) 🙂 By the way, 2000 signed copies ? I hope you have something for Carpal Tunnel and/or Arthritis in your book. 🙂

So far, I posted the giveaway on my blog(check it out), on my stumbleupon account, submitted this post to Reddit and Digg. (surprisingly, no one else submitted or Dugg this post before me. Wierd.) I plan to promote further through my twitter and facebook account using Su.pr links.

I particularly enjoyed the fact that Sir Richard’s Condom is in the giveaway. (Unused, right?) I didn’t even know Sir Richards made condoms. That man has his finger in everything. (no pun intended)

My muse has not blessed me with enough monetary rewards to enjoy your more exclusive giveaways… yet. But I must thank you for not forgetting the little guys. Some of the smaller giveaways are pretty nice and perhaps more relevant than the bigger ones.

Good Luck everybody!

Tim,

I’m a little confused. Do the books have to purchased through the eventbrite link?

In your last comment on this thread you wrote: “Any online retailer is fine…” How do we reserve our spots if we do not purchase through eventbrite?

The reason I ask is that I am trying to buy signed copies through B&N and don’t see how that option is available through eventbrite.

You’re rocking this, brother!

By the way, the Argo looks AMAZING. I am an avid sailor (my first memory of life was being caught in a storm on a sailboat). If you haven’t read Jimmy Buffett’s book A Salty Piece of Land, I recommend checking it out before your trip. And if you’re ever on the Gulf Coast of Florida, give me a shout and we sail!

I posed the same exact question, I see no way of ordering signed copies through the Eventbrite page, hope Tim sees our posts and responds soon!

Tim, clear me up: we have 72 hours to claim our bonuses but all I have from Amazon is an order confirmation; apparently I won’t get a receipt until 4HB ships. Is 72 hours the deadline to get a receipt in or can I email a screenshot of the order confirmation?

Hi MPB,

This is a great point. Yes, I meant “confirmation” and not “receipt.” Please use that as indicated in the post.

Best,

Tim

Hey Tim,

I purchased one signed copy and submitted confirmation the day that you posted the contest. However I didn’t receive any type of confirmation email after uploading the image. What is the best course of action to follow up with the bonus material?

Worst case, I have a signed copy 😉

Great promo! Agreed with some of the gals in the last post …that at first I thought this was geared more toward males, and particularly bodybuilders. After reading you last post, however, I decided there was some useful content to me as well. Ordered my 1 copy, and I hope it helps you out Tim!

Loved 4HWW, by the way, and have become a fan of the blog as well. I just like the way you think, man! I look forward to even more useful, innovative, out-of-the-box content from you in the future.

Just put in my order for 30 books on Eventbrite. Good luck with the launch. I’ve read the first half of the book twice. I’m now moving on to the second half.

Also to reconfirm, we’ll know that we get signed copies of the ISBN ends in 197?
